The role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. • Ensuring that the appropriate engineering documentation is produced, reviewed and signed off in accordance with Babcock and industry standards
• Elicit project requirements from the customer or FM provider and ensure that the requirements are accurately documented and include agreed acceptance criteria prior to creating any project estimates.
• Provide electrical engineering support to PMs as required as well as competency assessment for the installation team to ensure compliance.
• Ensure that all assigned projects comply with the change control requirements of the Business Unit.
• Completion of CE approval activities including documentation as well as management and control of specialist engineering subcontractors.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Senior Electrical Engineer

• Ability to report clearly on events both verbally and in written form, including good technical specification, feasibility and report writing skills, applicable to a broad audience at all levels of seniority, both internally and externally.
• To be able to communicate technically with external professionals on an equal standing, to give advice and to seek future opportunities.
• Knowledge of CE marking requirements/legislation.

Qualifications of the Senior Electrical Engineer

• Must hold a relevant engineering degree level, or alternatively HNC/HND qualification.

The role
As a Principal Software Systems Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary.
Day to day, you'll provide expert software engineering consultancy and leadership to critical engineering programs, as well as:

• Ensuring that an assured engineering lifecycle is applied, including requirements specification, design, production, test, integration, and assurance.
• Producing a documented design specification and ensuring that all other lifecycle documents are produced to a high standard.
• Developing a delivery strategy, roadmaps and work breakdown structures ensuring work is delivered to requisite time, cost, and quality.
• Representing Babcock at stakeholder meetings, Governance forums, Design Reviews and Readiness Assessment activities.
• Building, leading, and managing teams of engineers

This role is full time, 37-hours per week and will be based on site at Ashchurch with hybrid working from home arrangements.

Essential experience of the Principal Software Systems Engineer:

• In-depth knowledge and evidence of the application of Systems and Software Engineering processes on large and complex projects
• Owning and delivering high level design documentation, roadmaps and statements of work for complex software systems (e.g., in the telecommunication industry)
• Through-life design, integration and delivery of complex software systems ideally including network management and orchestration, OSS / BSS, ITIL
• Proactive in your approach, you'll have excellent leadership skills combined with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment with new and exciting challenges each day.

Qualifications for the Principal Software Systems Engineer:

• University degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related discipline

The successful candidate must be able to achieve BPSS/SC security clearance for this role.

Join Babcock as a Communications Engineering Apprentice and enter the innovative world of IT and communication systems as you build the skills needed for an exciting future in communications engineering.

About the programme
On this 3-year apprenticeship programme, you'll get to work on all types of communication equipment, IT and computer networks, repairing and restoring vital communication systems and services for our customers.
During this time, you will earn a competitive apprentice wage, gain technical experience in the workplace and obtain academic qualifications.

Working onsite with engineering mentors, you'll learn about the key components required to provide a robust and reliable communication system, whilst gaining multiple technical skills including:

• Fault finding and component replacement
• Soldering
• Testing and measuring
• Equipment maintenance
• System set up and maintenance
• Equipment calibration
• You'll perform maintenance on communications systems, carry out performance tests, complete fault diagnosis and repair communication systems. You'll also support in the development of new systems and customer projects, alongside expert communications engineers.

Once you have successfully completed your apprenticeship, you'll become a qualified Communications Engineer playing a critical role within our Communications Engineering team ensuring that systems meet the required level of service.

Your education/training:

• As part of the structured training programme, you will gain qualifications that will help you on your way to becoming a qualified Communications Engineer.
• You'll attend formal BTEC training courses every 6 weeks on subjects such as Electronics, Mathematics, Computer Systems and Telecommunications.

During your apprenticeship, you will be focused on completing your Level 3 Radio Network Technician Apprenticeship. You will also work towards gaining a Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Telecommunications and a Level 3 Advanced Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles.

What you'll need

• A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at C/4 grade including English and Maths at Grade B/6.
• 2 A Levels at grade C or above (or equivalent) - Maths and Science are desirable, but not essential.
• You will need to demonstrate a passion for engineering and a proactive approach to problem solving. You will be able to work well in a team, communicate with others well, possess good organisational skills and have excellent attention to detail.
