Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Section Manager, the Mobile Mechanical Maintenance Fitter (Plant) role is part of the 24/7 engineering function at our Dolyhir/Strinds Quarry and Asphalt Plant in Presteigne. As a Mobile Mechanical Maintenance Fitter (Plant) you will be responsible for the following across the Quarry and Asphalt plant:

• Responding to plant breakdowns (Quarry and Asphalt Plant) – ensuring assets are returned to production in a timely manner, and temporary fixes are followed up with a permanent solution
• Undertaking emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient way on all production equipment
• Liaison in preventative maintenance planning and execution planned shutdowns
• Owning small scale projects and delivering them in a pragmatic and proactive manner
• Taking a cost conscious approach to maintenance activities and participating in root cause analysis so repeat failures can be eliminated
• Coordinating with contractors and suppliers when they are on site
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of the engineering function through your own observations and experience
• Welding and Fabricating to a good standard
• Working with risk assessments and method statements and contributing to the preparation and development of safe working methods for repair procedures
• Maintaining and promoting Health & Safety rules and regulations, following all company processes and procedures
• Challenging unsafe conditions and practices, reporting these through company procedures
• Utilising the computerised maintenance management system and recording all work including fault descriptions, spares used and repairs carried out

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Mobile Mechanical Maintenance Fitter (Plant) will be self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work with minimal supervision. You should also demonstrate proven experience working within an Industrial, Factory or similar environment. Suitable candidates for the role of Mobile Mechanical Maintenance Fitter (Plant) will:

• Have a recognised apprenticeship (preferably a higher-level standard)
• ONC/HNC (desirable but not essential)
• Have a strong, practical mechanical systems background, heavy industry preferred - conveyors, drive systems – motors, belts, pumps, gearboxes, crushers, vibratory screens
• Possess a fault finding ability to identify defects and recommend appropriate action
• Possess the ability to remove and fit bearings
• Be capable of undertaking emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient manner on all production equipment
• Ability to assess SHE risks arising from work activities and control risks accordingly

Annual holiday is 30 days including bank holidays (bank holidays account for 8 days). An annual factory shutdown at Christmas accounts for 3-4 days of annual holiday entitlement.

The Role:

As Engineering Team Leader you will be responsible for the day-to-day engineering activities and supervision of Maintenance Engineers. Ensuring that reactive and corrective maintenance complies with health, safety, food safety, statutory requirements and Company standards. Supporting the achievement of key site KPI’s on a daily basis.

Main duties will include:

· Supervision of a team of Maintenance Engineers delegating activities and monitoring progress.

· Maintaining clear communication and accurate reporting on all engineering works.

· Taking responsibility for ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation during all work activities including health and safety risk assessments and Company standards.

· Produce PM’s for all production lines.

· Support the Shift Manager in prioritising issues and best utilising equipment availability in order to drive OEE performance.

Candidate requirements:

You will have previously worked in a FMCG industry as a trained Mechanical/Electrical Engineer and be able to demonstrate your line management skills. You will be resilient and able to work to tight deadlines. As a natural communicator you'll have great people skills and the ability to organise resources where required.

Hours and Location:

You will be based at our production facility working an average of 42 hours per week on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern, 0545 to 1815.

Are you an Electronics Technician looking for an immediate start? If so, don't go anywhere - we are looking for a talented Electronics Technician to fill a short term contract with plenty of hours and overtime.

The company itself is a high-technology, technical manufacturing company that has seen extensive growth in its order book in recent years supplying to a variety of industries, including Aerospace, Defence, Medical and Mass Manufacturing.

In a busy manufacturing team, your role will see you work within the production department, working on cutting edge electro-mechanical products.

There will also be an element of PCB work as well, so you will need a mixture of through-hole and surface mount soldering experience

Electronics Technician Requirements:

• Previous experience of electronic assembly
• Experienced in electro-mechanical assembly of high technology products
• Previous experience of PCB assembly and soldering - a mixture of through-hole and surface mount will be needed.
• The Assembler should have experience of building small sub-assemblies and complete units
• Ability to work to fine tolerances and use small hand-tools is required
• Proven ability to accurately follow assembly instructions and build procedures is essential
  

Electronics Technician Requirements:

• The Assembler will be required to build sub-assemblies and complete assemblies
• Working from drawings and written instructions, candidates will need to be able to follow these accurately to build assemblies
• PCB Population, soldering and quality checking.
• Candidates will be required to assemble a wide variety of technical and scientific equipment
• The Elec-Mech Assembler may be required to do soldering work on other assemblies as well
