The role will involve the design and engineering of control and safety management systems required as part of the client’s products

The main responsibilities will include the following:-

Electrical design and development of a range of projects, starting from the initial design, working to customer specifications', preparing designs for manufacture and seeing the product through to completion.
Design and develop new products as required to meet customers specification and to see them through to completion
Specification, component selection, design calculations as appropriate to requirements
Design and develop enhancements to the existing product range.
Support technical sales and manufacturing and test departments where required
The production of technical documentation as required, including drawings and bills of materials etc
Ensure products meet mandatory legislation and customer specific legislation.
Applicants must be experienced Electrical Design Engineers with a proven track record in any if not all of the following: -

Electrical design
Production of electric schematic diagrams
Electrical control design
Design experience of electrical control systems / control panels and wiring schematics
Knowledge of electrical design
Applications will be considered from a range of experience, from newly qualified to more experienced senior level although all candidates must be qualified to a minimum of HNC level although a degree qualification is preferred.

THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal Manufacturing Engineer:

• EHS compliance and safe working practices
• Ability to deliver results, address and resolve technical issues.
• 5 years' Experience in a manufacturing Test environment and knowledge of automated Manufacturing test equipment.
• HNC/HND or Engineering Degree or equivalent in a related discipline.
• Knowledge of HVDC product testing would be advantageous.
• Interaction with others and good at sharing knowledge

Additional skills beneficial but not critical

• Understanding of IT requirements for Test system integration.
• Ni TestStand / LabVIEW experience.
• Advanced manufacturing Methods and subsequent implementation, LEAN
• Knowledge of business principles, strategy, and subsequent interface across all functions.

Job Overview:

As Product Engineer you will join the AD&M's (Aerospace, Defense and Marine) Ruggedized Fiber Optics (RFO) group, focusing primarily on sustaining development efforts. Role and Responsibilities:

• Act as a liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing at the Hastings plant location.
• Generate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to facilitate product enhancements.
• Support and oversee testing activities in the lab, including DVT/Qual cable assembly design, component modeling, and print creation.
• Participate in DFMEA/PFMEA processes to identify and mitigate potential risks.
• Assist in preparing and delivering design reviews, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
• Coordinate model shop requests and support prototype part builds.
• Conduct tolerance analysis and develop design verification test plans.
• Utilize software tools such as SolidWorks, CREO, and AutoCAD to make drawing modifications in compliance with industry standards.
• Manage requests for product extensions, drawing changes, and engineering quotes.
• Facilitate the extension and costing of parts in SAP.
• Provide support for the Expanded Beam Product Line, contributing to changes and product extensions.

We are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to work for one of our clients in Burton on Trent.

The client is a market-leading manufacturer of specialist equipment to a range of industry sectors including heavy engineering and aerospace.

Due to the specialist nature of the products the work is both interesting and varied and will include working on the design and creation of large scale fabrications and structures together with associated pipework and equipment.

Based in their offices in Burton on Trent, but with a requirement to travel to customers both in the UK and overseas as required, it will include the generation of engineering diagrams, for use on their equipment and will involve working on specific projects from conception to completion.

The main duties will include:

• 2D and 3D engineering design proposal drawings
• General Arrangement drawings
• Fabrication details drawings
• Pipework layouts and manufacturing drawings

The successful candidate must have a proven track record of working within a mechanical design environment, ideally on large plant or machinery or metal fabrications/structural steelwork. They must also be qualified to a minimum of HNC in a relevant discipline although a degree is preferred and have experience of using Inventor iLogic and both 2D and 3D CAD.

In addition to this experience, it is essential that applicants have been involved in the production of metal fabrication drawings and some, if not all of the following:-

• The design and detailing of mechanical engineering products / projects
• Conceptual Designs
• General Arraignments and Layouts
• Fabrication Drawings

Working alongside the client’s own staff the role will include working on the installation of a range of components and will involve all aspects of basic mechanical fitting.

The work will be on a day shift basis
