We are seeking an experienced Firmware Engineer to join our team to design, develop, and optimize firmware for embedded systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working with FPGA, ARM processors, and embedded software development using C, C++, and Python Scripting Skills. You will implement cyber security software / firmware solutions on ARM/FPGA based embedded systems.

Key Responsibilities:

●      Develop and maintain firmware for embedded systems, specifically targeting FPGA and ARM-based processors.

●      Design and implement real-time embedded systems using C, C++, and Python.

●      Write and optimize device drivers, board support packages (BSP), and low-level hardware interfaces.

●      Collaborate with hardware engineers to define system architecture and debug hardware/firmware integration issues.

●      Implement, simulate, and test FPGA-based firmware using tools like Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog.

●      Work on bootloaders, and system diagnostics.

●      Perform unit testing and integration testing for firmware, ensuring system performance and reliability.

●      Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, and design reviews.

●      Troubleshoot and resolve firmware issues, optimizing system performance.

●      Integrate and deploy AI/ML models (e.g., neural networks) into embedded devices for tasks such as anomaly detection, or predictive analytics.

Qualifications:

●      Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

●      3+ years of experience in firmware or embedded software development.

●      Strong proficiency in C, C++, and Python.

●      Experience with FPGA design and implementation using Verilog, VHDL, or similar hardware description languages.

●      Hands-on experience with ARM processors (Cortex-A, Cortex-R, or Cortex-M series) and associated toolchains.

●      Familiarity with embedded Linux and/or RTOS environments.

●      Experience with hardware debugging tools such as JTAG debuggers.

●      Strong understanding of real-time embedded systems, including hardware/software interfaces, peripherals (PCIE, UART, SPI, I2C), and memory management.

●      Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

●      Experience with PCIe, DDR, or high-speed interfaces.

●      Experience with scripting languages like Python for automating testing and development processes.

●      Knowledge of networking protocols and interfacing.

●      Familiarity with secure boot, encryption, and other security measures in embedded systems.

●      Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow Lite, PyTorch, or Keras, and knowledge of how to optimize them for embedded systems.

●      Hands-on experience with neural network architectures (CNNs, RNNs, DNNs) and deploying them on resource-constrained environments.

What will you be doing?

- Working with experienced colleagues, particularly the estimators/quantity surveyors to assess project scope and viability against which they will develop project costs and support the development of tender content.
- Take the initiative on working on Projects with our experienced Contract and Site Managers to develop operational knowledge of Infrastructure deconstruction.
- Supporting the business in meeting contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Learn to progress the projects through their entire lifecycle, including feasibility, development, implementation and handover - This will involve scoping, designing, management of the supply chain and handover to the user.
- Work directly with engineers and operators on the plant and support operational and maintenance activities.
- Support shift teams in plant operation and learn site safety rules.
- Get involved in Health, Safety, and Environmental routines and support HSE-themed project work based on environmental and safety legislation.


What are we looking for?


- Full, clean UK driving licence (willingness to travel to other Veolia sites)
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant civil engineering or structural engineer discipline (to be achieved by September 2025).

Randstad CPE are currently looking for a Electrical Compliance Engineer to join a leading FM provider on a permanent basis in the central belt.

This role involves carrying out electrical testing (EICR) and associated remedial works within a retail, commercial and offices including the completion of NICEIC certification. Applicants must have the ability to complete works to a high
standard, be fully conversant with BS7671:18 th edition wiring regulations and be able to work using their own
initiative.

Role & Responsibilities

• To undertake electrical Inspection and Testing and remedial works as required by the Clients
  specialist electrical team to a high standard ensuring the customers' expectations are met.
• Self- motivated, responsible and organised individual working on their own initiative.
• All works carried out to be compliant with BS7671: 18 th Edition wiring regulations.
• Achieve the highest standards of quality, service and presentation of the business
• Ensure company compliance with statutory regulations.

Experience & Qualifications

• City & Guilds 236 Pt 1 & 2 or 2230 Level 3 NVQ 2356 / 2357 or City and Guilds 2330 Level 3 in Electrical
  Installation or AM1 and AM2.
• City &Guilds 18 th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671: 2018)
• ONC, HNC, City & Guilds or recognised apprenticeship in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing (or equivalent)
• Competent at completing electrical certification as required in BS7671: 2018
