Main purpose of the role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Finance & Customs Administrator to join the Finance Department based at our Portbury Office in Bristol, reporting to the Financial Controller.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate an adequate understanding and practical appreciation of HMRC legislation surrounding and relating to the receipt, warehousing and release of excise duty suspended goods, in addition to warehousing procedures and pre-lodge and free circulation entries.
Working as part of a team they should be self-motived, be able to use their initiative with problem solving skills, and have the ability to work to deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
Strong literacy and numeracy skills along with clear communication skills are essential attributes required for this role. It is essential to have a knowledge and practical experience surrounding the import and export of goods, and related procedures, would be advantageous.
Knowledge of customs warehousing
Good knowledge of CDS/CNS/Destin8/CCS
Good knowledge of UK Trade Tariff
Workable knowledge of customs procedures
Key responsibilities will include:
· Responsible for all administering aspects of the C&E Compliance Department’s functionality.
· Ensuring compliance to current legislation relating to the receipt, warehousing and release of excise duty suspended goods across all OEM.
· Liaising with HMRC, Customers, Border Force and Port Authorities.
· Day to day responsibility of Bond Administration and monthly declaration reports.
· Ensuring timely submission of Customs declarations to HMRC.
· Maintenance of Discrepancy Logs.
· Checking all data is calculated and compliant with HMRC.
· Investigation and Closure of Discrepancies.
· Investigating Standing Data Issues.
· Maintenance of Exchange, VAT and Insurance Rates.
· Understand and Use of Commodity Codes, Relevant Documentation Such as C21 Paperwork.
· Responsible for New Customer Setup & Maintenance.
· Producing relevant reports, for OEM and Financial Controller.
· Prioritising, planning and organising activities to ensure deadlines are completed.
· Other financial functions –
Raising of purchase orders
Assisting Financial Controller with ad-hoc requests
Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Advanced Excel and Outlook365 is essential and experience of working with Warehouse Management & Duty Management Systems will prove beneficial but training for such shall be provided.
The hours of work are based on Monday to Friday dayshift. Reasonable flexibility is expected to meet the requirements of the business, particularly at peak operational periods and weekend requirements.
