Mainframe System Administrator (CICS)
Lloyds Banking Group
Location: Edinburgh
Hybrid working: 2 days per week in the office and the rest from home
Working Hours – Please note that this role will require you to be on call outside of normal working hours on a rota system.
Salary & Benefits: £61,641 to £82,872 per annum (experience dependent), plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution, flexible benefits package, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays. Plus on-call bonus.
Where does the role sit in Lloyds?
We’re the Mainframe CICS Team within IBM Mainframe Services who look after the Mainframe CICS (Customer Information Controls System) estate across the whole of Lloyds Banking Group.
We maintain the critical infrastructure that underpins Lloyds Banking Group’s (LBG) strategic transactional processing systems, namely the IBM Mainframe. The IBM Mainframe is Lloyds Banking Group’s (LBG) platform of choice for our high-end transactional processing requirements for business units.
The IBM Mainframe Services team is made up of over 100 highly skilled and specialised colleagues. The systems we support, underpin almost everything we do as Lloyds Banking Group. We maintain these systems with the highest standard, with an ambition to take ownership of the operational support 24/7 using site reliability engineering (SRE) principles.
What will you focus on in this role?
As an IBM Customer Information Controls System subject matter expert (CICS SME) on zSeries Mainframe you'll act as the technical authority for this area. This is a hands-on role where you’ll configure and maintain products and services according to Group standards and policies.
You’ll also be providing technical support, focusing on incident and problem resolution for systems and processes within a complex environments - this includes out of hours support and project change activities.
The SME for CICS is required to work on critical systems and important projects associated with the Bank’s strategy across all business divisions such as Digital, Payments, Retail and Insurance, as well as technology and process service improvements.
Please note that this is not a coding focused role.
Examples of common tasks you’ll be responsible for would be;
Maintaining service stability and optimisation.
Resolution of incidents and problems across the LBG estate in line with LBG KPI’s.
Supporting and implementing changes to the CICS estate within LBG as required.
Identify, review, evaluate and mitigate potential risks ensuring adherence to relevant risk policies and frameworks or to ensure compliance with internal/external regulation
Help drive the strategy and design across the estate.
Work closely with key stakeholders, drive and deliver against the technology roadmap.
Enforce standardisation and assist with improvement initiatives in the team.
Work collaboratively across the wider Middleware teams to develop, promote and implement process initiatives.
Working with other platform areas with the same technology to ensure a consistent approach
Ensure processes and procedures are strictly adhered to
Ensure that evergreen currency plans are in place
Working with IT Security to ensure the security of the CICS product
What we're looking for;

Career background as a Mainframe Engineer working at a mid to senior level
Extensive knowledge of CICS infrastructure
Strong experience of CICS system performance tuning and diagnosis
Experience of supporting and troubleshooting critical on-line systems.
Experience with Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Application Transparent TLS
