Title: Finance Assistant (Debtors)

Job Purpose

In line with Alternative Futures Group mission, vision and values the job holder will provide effective support to the Financial Accountant. The primary responsibility will be for the smooth running of the sales ledger ensuring all customer/commissioner invoices are processed and settled in a timely manner.

Principal Accountabilities

-Setting up and maintaining sales ledger accounts on to the Finance System
-Efficient and effective processing of customer/commissioner invoices, ensuring the amounts invoiced are correct and maximise the income to AFG.
-Ensuring accurate invoicing and facilitating prompt query resolution.
-Debtor account reconciliations – ensure the balance sheet control accounts are up to date at all times for each customer/commissioner, cash receipts are posted promptly, and all outstanding debts are pursued in accordance with AFG policies and procedures
-Raising sales invoices and credit notes in a timely manner and in line with agreed billing schedules.
-Collecting cash through the production of reminders, statements and through regular contact with customers via telephone, e-mail and letter.
-Ensuring financial and business controls are adhered to.
-Assisting with processing and accurate allocation of receipts.
-Issuing copy invoices/statements when required.
-Assisting with reconciliation of unallocated cash.
-Raising manual invoices and credits.
-Producing debtor reports; provide information to assist with company cash flow forecasts and ensure that processes and procedures are maintained in line with corporate requirements.
-Posting journals to the nominal ledger and correction of mis-postings.
-Compiling and submitting statistical information required by the Government or any other Statutory Body.
-Producing monthly and ad-hoc management information.
-Adhering to the year-end timetable and liaison with the auditors and other business colleagues to assist in the production of statutory accounts.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to work with adults with mental health conditions and Learning Disabilities within a recently opened forensic low secure unit - Aspen Wood.

We are looking for a highly motivated and creative individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

You should have good organisational and time management skills.

You will be proactive in supporting the development of easy read information, work as part of the integrated approach modelling communication strategies, deliver communication assessment, therapy and training; and input into the eating, drinking and swallowing clinical pathway.

You will be providing interventions with a range of clients on a 1:1 basis and in groups.

You will be part of a well established Speech and Language Therapy Team where regular support and supervision will be provided. You will also have the opportunity to work with wider services based within the division.

The assistant will support the work of a Speech and Language Therapist working with adults with a learning disability/mental health condition in a forensic setting.

The post holder will work under the direction of a Speech and Language Therapist within the service. The assistant will be required to work in a number of roles: to develop and complete easy read documents in consultation with service users (including skilling up support staff), to work as part of the integrated therapy approach modelling communication approaches, to work as part of a team delivering all aspects of communication assessment, therapy, training, to develop resources to support therapy. The post holder will accept an agreed range of clients and manage a delegated caseload in an appropriate environment.

Communication and Relationship Skills

The post holder will :
1. Communicate effectively with all members of the speech therapy team and carry out work as outlined within professional competency frameworks for assistants.

Work directly with individuals with learning disability/mental health condition and have related difficulty with communication therefore will need to use skilled communication techniques to overcome these barriers. The post holder will work routinely with people who may also experience additional communication barriers to their learning disability relating to language, mental health conditions, physical health, disability and challenging behaviours. The Assistant will need to ensure that communication is accessible and person centred and support paid and unpaid carers to support the individual effectively.
4. Develop and advise others within MDT on the development of accessible information for service users.
5. Complete client records and client sensitive information according to professional guidance and MCFT Trust policy.
6. Be an integral member of the MDT.
7. To attend relevant professional meetings at the request of a senior Clinician.
8. To share and disseminate information in a professional manner with other members of the broader multi-disciplinary and uni-disciplinary speech therapy team.

Clinical duties

Job Purpose

In line with Alternative Futures Group mission, vision and values the job holder will provide effective support to the Treasury Accountant. The primary responsibility will be for the smooth running of the purchase ledger ensuring all supplier invoices are processed and paid in a timely manner.

Principal Accountabilities

· Set up new suppliers on to SUN in accordance with the current procedure.

· Maintenance of the supplier database, reviewing every 6 months and inactivate those not used.

· Processing supplier invoices for payment checking that coding is correct and ensuring approval in line with the Scheme of Reservation and Delegation.

· Filing of supplier invoices.

· Performing the weekly payment run of BACS and cheques.

· Reconcile supplier statements and where necessary chase outstanding invoices, investigate credit balances and liaise with suppliers to resolve any discrepancies.

· Liaising with suppliers regarding invoice queries to ensure prompt payment.

· Preparation of an aged creditor report each month for the Treasury Accountant with an explanation of balances over the target set by the Finance & Performance Committee.

· Identify on a monthly basis any debtor balances held on the purchase ledger with an explanation and relevant action to clear.

· Prepare journals and process when required.

· Prepare consolidated supplier bills into spreadsheets for upload in to the SUN system.

· Analyse the mobile phone bill according to policy and record appropriately.

· Process adhoc payroll payment requests.

· To process any crisis loans to service users and ensure full recovery at the earliest opportunity.

· Create fixed asset records for all capital purchases on the fixed asset register.

· Upload monthly depreciation journal.

· Prepare fixed asset additions file for year end audit.

· Prepare capital addition summary for Treasury Accountant explaining variances against capital plan.

· To process the re-imbursement of house imprests and resident monies on a weekly basis, reconciling the bank balances back to the ledger on a monthly basis.

We have a really exciting opportunity for a Barber/Retail Assistant within the Secure Care Division within Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will work within Rehabilitation and Recovery Services, primarily providing hair care/barber services to the patient population within Ashworth Hospital. The role will also entail supporting the function of the Patient’s’ Shop when required.

Duties will include the transfer of stock to the appropriate destination, stocking of shelves, serving patients and ensuring appropriate use of the till system.

The post will be based in Ashworth Hospital within the Rehabilitation and Recovery Service. Experience of working within a secure mental health environment is desirable and experience in the barbering industry is essential, however, this is an ideal position for a creative individual looking to further develop their skills in a clinical area.

General

Act as first point of contact for all telephone and reception enquiries, ensuring that messages are forwarded to the appropriate persons and visitors are welcomed to the department.

Provide an effective clerical service to support the team, including photocopying, typing, data input, and maintenance of an effective filing and retrieval system.

Effective liaison with multi-disciplinary staff/patients/carers/outside agencies ensuring accurate information is communicated as and when required.

Responsibility, in conjunction with other administrative staff, for arranging clinics, booking appointments and associated data entry including the retrieval and maintenance of patient records.

Ensure appropriate records are maintained as directed by Line Manager.

Contribute to the ordering of stationery supplies and associated procedures

Contribute to the processing of all incoming and outgoing mail.

Participate in the provision of cover and support to colleagues as required.

Participate in the local induction process for new staff.

Participate in serious untoward incident investigations/reviews as required.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant within Ashworth High Secure Hospital in Liverpool working with service users who have a primary diagnosis of a mental illness and/or personality disorder.

We are looking for a highly motivated and creative individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

You should have good organisational and time management skills.

You will be proactive in supporting the development of easy read information, work as part of the integrated approach modelling communication strategies, deliver communication assessment, therapy and training; and input into the eating, drinking and swallowing clinical pathway.

You will be providing interventions with a range of clients on a 1:1 basis and in groups.

You will be part of a well established Speech and Language Therapy Team where regular support and supervision will be provided. You will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively as part of the MDT within the hospital.

The assistant will support the work of the Qualified Speech and Language Therapists working with adults with a primary diagnosis of mental illness or personality disorder in the high secure forensic setting.

The post holder will work under the direction of the Lead Speech and Language Therapist within the service.

The assistant will be required to work in a number of roles:

To develop and complete easy read documents in consultation with service users (including skilling up support staff).

To work directly with patients and other clinical staff, modelling communication approaches and ensuring these are embedded into day to day communication and interactions.

To work as part of a team delivering all aspects of communication assessment (including use of creative and meaningful activities with patients to assess their strengths and needs).

To provide structured, planned communication therapy sessions as directed by Qualified Speech and Language Therapist, on a 1:1 and/or group basis.

To support with training of others.

To develop resources to support assessment, training and therapy.

Communication and Relationship Skills

The post holder will :
1. Communicate effectively with all members of the speech therapy team and carry out work as outlined within professional competency frameworks for assistants.
2. Work under direction from a qualified and registered Speech and Language Therapist.
3. Work directly with individuals with a mental illness and/or personality disorder and have related difficulty with communication therefore will need to use skilled communication techniques to overcome these barriers. The post holder will work routinely with people who may also experience additional communication barriers relating to language, mental health conditions, physical health, disability and challenging behaviours. The Assistant will need to ensure that communication is accessible and person centred and support others to communicate with the individual effectively.
4. Develop and advise others within MDT on the development of accessible information for service users.
5. Complete client records and client sensitive information according to professional guidance and MCFT Trust policy.
6. Be an integral member of the MDT.
7. To attend relevant professional meetings at the request of a senior Clinician.
8. To share and disseminate information in a professional manner with other members of the broader multi-disciplinary and uni-disciplinary speech therapy team.
9. Maintain and develop competency in IT skills.

Clinical duties
1. To carry own designated caseload (under supervision) and meet regularly with supervising clinician to review work.
2. To work independently with individuals with a mental illness and/or personality disorder in the high secure setting.
3. To highlight individual’s changing needs or wider service issues affecting an individual’s care to the Lead Speech and Language Therapist.
4. Identify and proactively develop accessible information in addition to developing material on request
5. To develop systems for storing and developing symbols/easy read materials to increase use across the trust
6. Support clients to achieve optimum potential by promoting independence and self-care as appropriate.
7. To provide support and assist in the preparation and running of Integrated Therapy Groups.
8. To act as an advocate to facilitate views and choices expressed by clients.
9. To develop rapport with clients and to encourage their interest and participation in specified therapeutic activities.
10. To contribute to the assessment of and adhere to risk management measures under direction of therapist.
11. To work within the Mental capacity act framework.

Analytical and Judgmental Skills
1. To make appropriately detailed observations in regard to physical health, communication, behaviour and emotional presentation to contribute to therapy assessment and assess progress in relation to therapy goals.
2. To observe general behaviour, functional ability and responses of patients when engaged in therapy activities to make routine records of the information following each intervention and to report to the appropriate member of the multi-disciplinary team.
3. Following appropriate training respond appropriately to changes in the person’s condition or needs and make changes to care plans within own area of competence, as delegated by the registered Speech and Language Therapist
4. To understand the scope of their own role and when to refer to the Speech and Language Therapist

Planning and Organisational Skills
1. To organise own time and prioritise workload with support from supervising Speech and Language Therapist.
2. To deliver therapy programmes in the most appropriate setting for the person and in a timely manner
3. To provide individual activity and performance data in a timely manner on request

Responsibilities for Policy and Service Development
1. To support a learning environment within the Speech and Language Therapy service through practical assistance and input into the education and development of student health professionals who are undertaking training within the service. This at the request and guidance of the Lead Speech and Language Therapist.
2. Make a key contribution to the multi-professional team to ensure the continued development of the service and maintain a knowledge and understanding of current legislation, policies, procedures, codes of practice and guidelines relevant to role
3. Participate in audit, quality projects and research as appropriate
4. Participate in changes in clinical practice as directed by the Lead Speech and Language Therapist
5. To adhere to MCFT Policies and procedures
6. To engage in MCFT PDR process ensuring objectives are met and a personal development plan is maintained and evaluated
7. To attend mandatory training and relevant courses/ training deemed appropriate for role
8. To maintain CPD portfolio and work to Assistants competency framework
9. To participate in service development, research and audit as required
