SALARY: $72,624.00 - $98,980.00 Annually

CLASS DESCRIPTION

The Baltimore City Department of Finance is seeking a self-motivated individual with excellent verbal, analytical, computational, and writing skills. These skills will allow the individual to successfully assist the City’s Assessment Appeals Manager in the analysis of real property assessments in the City and the documentation management and prosecution of assessment appeals. The ability to consistently provide exceptional attention to detail is crucial for success in this position. The individual must be able to work independently on multiple projects with strict deadlines.  To be effective, the individual must also be able to develop working relationships with individuals in both State and City government and be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders within City government, counterparts in the State Department of Assessments and Taxation, and taxpayers within the City. The individual should have a basic knowledge of the principles of real property valuation and a basic understanding of real property taxation within the City and the State of Maryland. The analyst will serve in the Fiscal Integrity Office in the Department of Finance.
 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION- Have a master’s degree from an accredited College or University with advanced coursework in finance, accounting, public policy analysis, business administration, business process reengineering, real estate, or law.

AND

EXPERIENCE- Have at least four years of experience in one of these or a related field is preferred. The successful candidate will have strong skills in Excel.  Additionally, some experience with GIS or other mapping applications is preferred.
 

OR

NOTES(Equivalencies)- A bachelor’s degree, including advanced courses in quantitative methods and two years of additional experience, may be substituted for the master’s degree.

COMPENSATION: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
