WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites
About this opportunity
This is an excellent chance for a senior lawyer to join the Securities & Asset Management Legal team (SAML) on a 12-month fixed term contract to work on a variety of debt capital markets transactions including, in particular, securitisations. Ours is a positive, friendly and pragmatic legal team, working closely with the Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) business areas for clients both in the UK and overseas. Our clients are often household names and all play a meaningful role in the economy. The team supports across a variety of transaction types, and you'll learn about both existing and new products and services for clients. Products include securitisations, covered bonds and other secured transactions, unsecured primary bond issuances and private placements, green bonds, social housing bonds, structured products, liability management exercises and high yield transactions. Support is also provided to other business areas, including those engaged in ESG and ratings advisory services. The team also works on transformation, strategic and regulatory projects for business, and collaborates with other Legal & Secretariat teams on initiatives in support of the wider team.
You would report to the Head of Legal of SAML and whilst your primary focus would be on debt capital markets transactions, you may also support other members of SAML on other Group matters.
Day to day you'll:

Provide sound, commercial and strategic legal advice, drawing from your experience and insights;

Horizon scan and advise on changes in law and regulation and potential impacts and opportunities for our business;

Be driven by excellent outcomes for clients and the Group, handling legal risks and delivering results;

Collaborate across L&S to support the wider business and our community as a whole;

What you'll need

Ideally you would have a minimum of 6 years' post-qualification experience in and a good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework and market practices applying to securitisation transactions, however, if that is not the case, but you do have similar expertise in other debt capital markets transactions and clearly transferable skills, and are serious about your development, we would be pleased to consider your application.

You must hold a current practising certificate in a common law jurisdiction.
