The Hanley and Upton Educational Trust are seeking to appoint a Senior Finance Officer to assist with the smooth running of the financial management of Hanley Castle High School and the 3 Primary Schools within the Trust. The role will support the Finance Manager with trust wide reporting, forecasting, budgeting and year end requirements.
The successful candidate will have finance experience within industry or another academy and experience maintaining financial records and systems. In addition, we are looking for someone with excellent accountancy and double entry bookkeeping skills, good attention to detail, highly organised and able to prioritise workload, a strong communicator with excellent customer service skills, and a team-player.
Start date: As soon as possible.
Hours: 30-37 hours per week, term-time only plus 18 days (including Professional Development Days).Salary: SO1, SCP23 – 25, £32,076 - £33,945 FTE (pay-award pending). £28,967 - £30,655 prorated to term-time only (37 hours)

Do you currently work in an insurance brokerage with a speciality of commercial property and feel like you could offer more? Do you feel like you are ready for the step up and want to have more client interaction face to face?

My client, an independent and chartered insurance brokerage based in Worcester have a rare opportunity to work closely with the Group Managing Director (GMD) in a key role within the business as Senior Account Handler.

Assisting on his personal account, you will assist the GMD with a small amount of his larger clients with premiums £50k - £500k. The majority of cases are in Property sector Managing Agent Portfolios, Property Owners, Property Developers and Construction.

This is a position where you will also be the lead on the brokers in house Property Binder, so there is an element of underwriting in volved via Delegated Authority.

The role will involve you playing a key part in client meetings, on occasions you will lead meetings and will be expected to develop your own relationships with these clients and handle their policies on a regular basis.

This is an office-based role however due to the close relationships you will develop with the clients in the GMD's book, it will involve an element of travelling with the GMD nationally, including visits to the Isle of Man.

You will have a strong commercial lines technical knowledge and will be able to advise clients with their risks, therefore good relationship building skills and a keen eye for detail are essential.

Salary is open dependant on experience.

Hays Accountancy and Finance are pleased to be working with an education organisation in the Worcester area for a fantastic position in the finance function. This is joining an established organisation for a new role offering a start for early 2024, subject to clearance, with interviews taking place immediately.
Your new role
The role will be supporting the Head Of Finance in the day to day management of the finance function, financial reporting and monthly management accounts. The role will be temporary to support an immediate gap and will be ongoing for approximately 2 - 3 months whilst the organisation reviews permanent recruitment requirements.
Key duties will include:

• Financial reporting
• Month end duties
• Preparation of management accounts
• Cashflow forecasting
• Bank reconciliation
• VAT returns
• Variation analysis

Based working in the office across Monday to Friday, with options on start and finish times.
What you\'ll need to succeed
You will need to have proven experience where you have competed management accounts and cashflow forecasting, using Sage 200 will be key for this role and ideally you will have VAT return experience. Education sector is not essential, however skills in management accounting and financial reporting is key. This role requires a start from the beginning of January and will be subject to a successful enhanced DBS and compliance checks.
