Head of Allied Health Professions
We are really excited to be able to offer an experienced, independent, innovative individual with the skills, enthusiasm and vision the opportunity to become the Head of Allied Health Professions (AHP) for the Forensic and Specialist Directorate at Kent and Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust.
The Head of Allied Health Professions is a key member of the directorate Senior Management Team and will work closely with the other heads of profession, operational managers and business partners within the team to ensure that the directorate continues to provide the best possible care to the patients that it serves. They will also be a vital part of the AHP leadership team which spans the organisation and is responsible for ensuring that the AHP agenda and strategy are progressed and delivered upon.
The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes
(unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
The post holder will work with a diverse range of services spanning mental health and non-mental health provision across both inpatient and community settings and will represent the voices of a diverse range of Allied Health Professionals including occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and prosthetists. They will also hold strategic oversight for the Peer Support Practitioner workforce within the directorate.
Essential requirements:
A recognised AHP professional qualification.
Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Evidence of significant personal development through formal postgraduate courses or experience e.g. (MSc or equivalent).
Extensive experience in clinical practice, holding a broad range of experience within a variety of settings.
Proven experience within a clinical leadership / professional management role.
Experience of motivating staff and of reviewing the performance of individuals through regular supervision and appraisal.
Ability to make decisions autonomously and co-operatively as part of an inter-professional team.
Demonstrable commitment to and a focus on quality, promoting high standards of clinical care to improve patient outcomes/recovery.
Uses evidence to make improvements and seeks out innovation.
Works across teams/services/boundaries, involving, respecting and learning from clinicians, sharing and looking for collective success.

They will lead on the student placement and workforce offers for AHPs across the directorate, will ensure that all AHPs work in accordance with their professional standards for practice and will be responsible for ensuring the quality of AHP therapeutic input across the directorate. They will lead on the patient and carer experience portfolios for the directorate and will be a key part of the trust wide patient and carer experience development work. They will also hold therapeutic leadership and oversight for the fully functional vocational café hosted on the Medium Secure site.
The post holder will need to be highly organised, able to prioritise conflicting demands and deliver to deadlines. They must possess the professional knowledge and attributes to strategically and professionally lead the Forensic and Specialist Allied Health Professions, innovate current practice, manage change, address quality issues and support the achievement of Allied Health Profession, directorate and trust strategic objectives.
