This post will provide a key strategic role in the development of POCT support services within the Trust but also across all healthcare partners. The role will build a POCT support service within the department which will in turn deliver accreditable POCT testing systems within the Trust. The job plan will be reviewed annually and is a prospective agreement that sets out the consultant's duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year. It covers all aspects of a consultant’s professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. It will provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external and will include personal objectives, detailing links to wider service improvements and trust strategic priorities.
For a full-time contract, the job plan will be divided on average per week (pro-rata for a part time post) as:
• 7.5 Programmed Activities (PAs) of Direct Clinical Care - includes clinical activity, clinically related
activity and predictable and unpredictable emergency work.
• 2.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs) - includes CPD, audit, teaching and research.
• Out of Hours Activity - On call is non-resident, 1:9, 3% supplement.
The allocation of PAs is reviewed and may be subject to adjustment when a further diary exercise is
undertaken or if the service demands a review of the team job plan. The job plan conforms to the current recommendations of the Royal College of Radiologists.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust’s Pathology Centre are looking for a dynamic, caring, and enthusiastic Pathology IT Manager.

The successful applicant will be working closely with other members of the Pathology leadership team, across our three hospital sites, to deliver a quality, patient-focused service. The Pathology Centre is a vibrant team, continually looking for ways to develop innovative ideas and ways of working, ensuring our services continue to match the rapid pace of growth in diagnostic advances. This role will also be a significant part of wider Pathology network development.
• To develop, deliver and support systems that enable the management and analysis of laboratory data across all pathology disciplines.
• To undertake and be responsible for the delivery of a wide range of complex, specialised and non-routine projects requiring high level informatics expertise and project management skills.
• The post holder will lead on laboratory informatics for the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, The Princess Royal Hospital and The Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Hospital and provide expert advice to pathology colleagues on information management, data extraction, analysis and the delivery of reports.
• The post holder will advise senior management in the development of pathology information strategies and lead service development and improvements in-line with the objectives within departmental and Trusts business plans.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) is the main provider of acute hospital care for more than 500,000 people from Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. Pathology provides pathology services to the Trust and Shropshire County CCG, Telford and Wrekin CCG, Powys Teaching Health Board, Powys Healthcare Trust, and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, amongst others.
