Within the role, you'll be responsible for delivering insightful financial analysis, managing cash flow, overseeing regulatory compliance, and leading the budgeting and financial planning processes.

Your key responsibilities will include:
* Support senior management with data-driven financial insights to help achieve strategic and financial objectives.
* Prepare and present accurate monthly management accounts and cash flow forecasts.
* Manage and streamline accounting processes to maximise efficiency.
* Oversee cash flow management.
* Produce year-end statutory accounts.
* Ensure compliance with UK and international regulations, including VAT.
* Lead the annual budget process and maintain updated financial forecasts.
* Develop key performance metrics and recommend actions to address variances.
* Identify financial risks and deliver effective mitigation.

Key skills and experience you'll ideally have:
* A Qualified or Qualified by Experience Accountant
* Strong IT and analytical skills.
* Strong strategic finance background.
* Exceptional attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate reporting on time.
* Effective communicator with a collaborative approach.
* Confident delivering strategic analysis and hands-on accounting tasks.

The Role
As a Senior Finance Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Working alongside a Line of Business Management Team with accountability for supporting and managing the delivery and maximisation of the financial performance for a portfolio of Babcock Rail Contracts.

Day-to-day, you'll be ensuring robust financial controls, strong corporate governance, production of timely and meaningful financial analysis and continuous improvement of financial processes:

• Work with the Line of Business management team in assuring and enhancing the processes used to operate and control performance.
• Lead and develop a project finance team to provide high quality business partnering support to the line of business management and contract project teams.
• Ensuring financial targets are delivered or exceeded wherever possible including the successful tender and conversion of Framework delivery, Rebids and Re-lets.
• Identify, drive and deliver continuous improvements to the financial processes, procedures and operating practices.
• Ensure the Line of Business fiance team are appropriately resourced and managed to deliver effectively.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and requires regular travel to Belfast on a weekly basis alongside home working arrangements.

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential Experience of the Senior Finance Manager:

• Demonstratable experience in a construction / project-based environment.
• Strong business / process analysis and modelling skills including bid and tender production and review.
• Ability to assess business risks, issues and mitigating actions, with experience of implementing such actions.
• Effective line management capability with a proven track record for maximising team delivery and output
• Experience of working with Commercial and Project Operational teams.

Qualifications for the Senior Finance Manager:

• You must hold a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS) or equivalent / similar.
