We are looking to appoint a full time Consultant Physician in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Medicine to join our dynamic and developing team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

Participation in the medical consultant acute on-call rota is expected, on a 1:16 basis. Weekday on call will consist of post take ward round for two bays in EMU totalling 12 patients. There are no evening ward rounds, and the rest of EMU/CDU/short stay post take is undertaken by the acute medicine team. During weekend on call, working hours are 08:00 to 14:00 Saturday and 08:00 to 16:00 Sunday with night on calls only on Sunday.

The successful applicant will ideally be experienced in a full range of investigations including spirometry with reversibility, single breath gas transfer, lung volume measurements by body plethysmography, mannitol challenge testing and flight assessments. In addition you should have the ability to perform and report oximetry and respiratory sleep studies, and establish and monitor patients on CPAP/NIV therapy.

A exciting vacancy has arisen within the Maternity & Gynaecology Care Unit, Family Care Division for a Relief Receptionist, working Monday - Friday 37.5 hours per week, 8.30am - 5pm.



The Receptionists provide a professional clerical and co-ordination service to the wards and outpatient departments, to ensure that patients and visitors receive a friendly, customer focused and efficient service.

The successful candidates will possess previous clerical experience, including VDU/keyboard skills, and have experience of using a telephone. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work to deadlines are also essential requirements of this post.

Chesterfield Royal Hospital is located in Calow, Chesterfield, which is situated on a green field site on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It is home to the Crooked Spire and is also close to Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham, thus offering numerous choices for recreational activities and lifestyles.

Chesterfield Royal Hospital was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1985 and since then it has continued to expand and modernise, currently holding approximately 550 beds. We provide acute in-patient and out-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 350,000 people.

Responsible for providing a friendly and personal checking in of patients and their families/carers, and managing their expectations at busy times.

Be mindful of and act within policy in terms of safeguarding.

Filing of reports and correspondence in patients’ case notes, in accordance with hospital procedures. Maintain patients’ case notes including updating and documenting any changes in patient details.

Reconciling clinics in line with timescales.

Undertake clerical duties associated with the discharge or transfer of patients from the Consultant care, any transport arrangements which may be required, booking follow up appointments and ensuring the safe return of case notes to the appropriate departments.

Answer telephones, receive and relay messages. Undertake ad hoc messenger duties as required.

To demonstrate a flexible approach to Department duties where appropriate.

Checking of stocks of stationery for the ward when required and relaying to necessary colleagues.

Be proactive in escalating any concerns of any kind to Line Management

Any other duties in the Division, which may be delegated from time to time by the Assistant Service Manager or Care Unit Coordinator.
