University Hospitals of Derby and Burton are seeking a cultural safety midwife who will work to reduce inequality in maternity outcomes and experiences ofBlack, Asian and other women from an Ethnic Minority background and those from the most deprived decile, through engagement and co-productionwith othermembersofthematernityandmultidisciplinaryteam, communitygroupsand serviceusersrepresenting these populations.

In addition, the post holder will engage with the Trust EDI team and patient experience team to improve carefor LGBTQ+peopleand peopleliving withdisability and actasaresourcefor staff.

This role will provideandpromotehighquality,individualised,safe,evidencedbased maternitycare and promote the importance of Cultural Safety in reducing inequality in maternity services, including liaising with seniorleadersin all areaswithin the directorate.

The post holder will workwithcommunitygroupsand themulti-agencyteamtoensure thatwomenfromethnicminority groups and those from the most deprived decileshave accessto care appropriatetotheirneeds. They will act as a role model by applying best practice in motivating staff to drive improvements and provide visible leadership intheworkplace.

The cultural safety midwife will lead on the benchmarking of national evidence-based and expert panel reports relevant to cultural safety issues and the needs of LGBTQ+ people and people living with disability to ensure that maternity services provide bestpractice.They will implement, maintain and promote solutions and equipment for women with interpreting needs to improve safety and quality of experience for women with additional language needs.

At UHDB around 9,000 babies are born across our two sites each year at Royal Derby Hospital (RDH) and Queens Hospital Burton (QHB). We provide antenatal and postnatal care for 11,500 women each year and, at RDH, we offer an alongside birth centre. We support women through low and high-risk care pathways, and some specialty pathways like diabetes and cardiology.

Details of UHDB sites

We have three wards across two sites, with a total of 88 beds for antenatal, postnatal and induction of labour.

At Royal Derby Hospital there are:
• 17 delivery rooms including one pool room and bereavement suite.
• Four bedded Midwife led birth centre.
• Four bedded Obstetric Enhanced Care area and a two bedded assessment bay

Queens Hospital Burton has seven delivery rooms including one pool room and one bereavement suite.

Samuel Johnson Community Hospital is currently does not provide intrapartum care but runs as a community midwifery hub.

A vacancy has arisen for a consultant spinal surgeon within the Trust. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the management of both elective and acute patients, including spinal on-call. Candidates with a background in either orthopaedics or neurosurgery will be considered.

You will have significant spinal surgery experience. You will join a large team of existing orthopaedic consultants within the Trust, which includes 5 established spinal consultants. The spinal unit sees a large volume of patients and provides satellite clinics in a number of community locations.

The unit has high standards and a dynamic forward thinking team with plans to grow further. The unit is well resourced with its own clinic and a dedicated spinal ward and theatres, within the broader orthopaedic footprint.

The spinal team provides a full range of general and specialised surgical interventions, with the exception of intra-dural work and paediatric scoliosis. A dedicated intervention and diagnostic service is also available.

You should possess FRCS or equivalent, have completed a Higher Specialist Training Programme in Trauma and Orthopaedics or Neurosurgery, and possess full GMC Registration with a license to practice and be eligible for entry on the GMC Specialist Register by one of the following routes:-

1. Certification of Completion of Training (CCT) the proposed CCT must be within 6 months of the interview date

2. Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) CESR candidates must have written GMC confirmation upon successful application
