About the platform:
Personalised Experiences and Communications (PEC) is a business platform that sits within Consumer Relationships. Which plays a critical role in supporting the achievement of the Groups strategic priority to grow by protecting and deepening customer relationships. We enable & deliver personalised customer communications & experiences across all channels, media and business areas supporting the Customer Relationship Growth strategy to deepen relationships with our customers across both the Retail & Commercial bank. This includes the data, analytics, and technology to unlock the value of differentiating our branded channel experiences, proposition, price and communication; as well as achieving our paper-free sustainable ambitions.
Key Objectives for the Platform:

Simplify and modernise our technology estate to enable internal flexibility and increase responsiveness to evolving customer needs

Improve customer experience and support the Bank's sustainability ambitions by delivering compelling, reliable, safe paperless communications

Enable two-way, seamless, multi-channel customer experiences that are differentiated, data-led and personalised - in line with the broader Group Conversational Banking and Channel strategies

Deliver engaging, empathetic communications that are tailored to individual customer needs and provided via their preferred channel
About the role:
You'll be leading our cross-functional cloud platform enabling team, whilst working in a collaborative and agile environment with other product engineering teams. You will play a key role in helping PEC on its cloud journey for both app and data solutions. You will work closely with product team engineering leads on improving the pace and reliability of change to our customers.

Work in close partnership with product engineering teams to understand their cloud journey and guide them on embedding DevSecOps practices.

Lead multiple cross functional teams, delivering modern tech applications and play a key role in defining efficient bank compliant route to live onto Cloud.

You'll focus on the DevOps elements of the software engineering role, helping us build pipelines and deploy software regularly and smoothly while continuously improving deployment processes with application monitoring in production.

Owning the hiring strategy to grow our engineering capability by working with and mentoring a wide variety of teams, covering software engineers, data engineers, quality engineers and DevOps.

Championing a "Fail Fast, Learn Faster" mentality within teams to test new ways of engineering and cultivate a lean agile culture to deliver value incrementally to customers.

You'll lead a team of engineers providing clear and constructive feedback, whilst creating opportunities for learning and growth

Support continuous deployment processes for applications on both Private and Public cloud.

Lead the cloud platform engineering capability including proving route-to-live & environment approaches, demonstrating SRE approaches, core cloud component config / proving / support through IaC (Terraform & Ansible), comprehensive observability standards and security compliance / best practice of cloud platforms.

What you'll need:

Leadership experience of Engineering teams through line management, coaching & mentoring of developers

Proven automation experience and understanding of continuous integration, deployment and delivery into production environment.

Experience of native DevOps tool with Public Cloud Solution, ideally Google Cloud Platform and/or Amazon Web Services.

Strong knowledge with CI/CD DevOps Tools like Jenkins, Sonar, Nexus, GIT, GitHub actions and Spinnaker.

Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
-
Strong knowledge of infrastructure as code and experience with terraform, ansible, Prometheus and service meshes etc

Hands on experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
-
Familiar with an enterprise environment with automated build/test/release processes, source code management (Git) and change-management (JIRA)

Experience and knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies and tools
