This role is responsible for providing a uniformed specialist service and leading a team of Security Officers, including a CCTV Operator, in their duties. This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional to join the Enhanced Perioperative Care Unit (EPOC). This is a rapidly developing service which supports the delivery of holistic, high quality care to surgical patients at increased risk of adverse outcomes.

Successful Candidates will have the unique opportunity to help shape this service to enable the EPOC unit to become an outstanding new addition to the surgical perioperative pathway.

EPOC is a bespoke built unit, comprising of 10 beds cross-site of post-operative patients from a variety of specialties including Maxillofacial, ENT, HPB, Plastics, Gynaecology, Colorectal, Vascular, Upper GI, Urology, Orthopaedics, Spinal surgery, Neurosurgery and Thoracics. Patients will be cared for at a higher level of care, 1.5, with staff caring for 2 patients each. This unit will have input from a variety of members from the Multi-Disciplinary team including Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Acute Pain Specialist Nurses, CCOT and Critical Care Pharmacists.

A Vacancy at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.


NUH is looking to appoint a Trust Grade doctor at ST4 or above level to support our General Medical/Diabetes ward at QMC. The post is offered for January 2025 to August 2025 initially.

You will be based on ward C52 at the QMC campus working closely with consultants, other junior doctors, nursing and therapy staff.

The post holder will also contribute to the ST4+ General Internal Medicine rota at NUH which is cross-campus therefore full MRCP and previous UK NHS experience are essential.

You will also contribute to the specialty ward referral rota alongside our existing registrars. This will involve seeing diabetes and endocrinology referrals from around the hospital and seeing emergency drop-in patients. The ward referrals are discussed with a consultant of the day.

NUH has various specialty and sub-specialty clinics in diabetes endocrinology. You will get the opportunity to attend and see patients in these clinics to broaden your experience of the specialty. It will be a valuable experience for any future applications to diabetes and endocrinology SpR training programmes.

Although this is not a training post, it should be possible for an enthusiastic doctor to map their experiences to many of the core curriculum programme competences as all aspects of the syllabus are relevant to this role.

The successful candidate will be working with the multidisciplinary team in the Ophthalmology Department comprising of Orthoptists, Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, Technicians, OSPs, the nursing and admin teams.

Ophthalmology Services include eye casualty, day case, in-patient and outpatient facilities. It has strong links to the University of Nottingham through research and works closely with the regional Diabetic Eye Screening Service. We have a large team of Consultant Ophthalmologists, who provide outpatient and surgical services in a full range of Ophthalmology sub-speciality clinics.

The post holder will be required to work various shifts to support the needs of the service. This includes working weekdays, weekends, bank holiday days and varying hours with the earliest start time at 7.00am and the latest finish at 8.00pm. You are strongly urged to consider your suitability to meet the service requirements prior to applying for this post. Typical rota is one late clinic/week and one Saturday/month.


As a Specialist Orthoptist, maintain the delivery of a high standard of clinical work within all aspects of the orthoptic practise and clinical teaching.

Work as an autonomous practitioner in undertaking orthoptic assessment, diagnosisand management of patients of all ages, ranging from pre-term babies to the elderly and who have various communication abilities and who have been referred from a variety of sources.
Take responsibility for an individual caseload of orthoptic patients with complexpresentation and needs and provide specialist advice to other health professionalsregarding patient management

Participate in the theoretical and clinical teaching of orthoptics to orthoptic undergraduates on placement to the department

Participate in the theoretical and clinical teaching of orthoptics to medical students,ophthalmic nurses, optometrists and other health professionals visiting the orthopticdepartment each week.

Maintain and enhance professional knowledge and skills required to practise as anorthoptist and keep a personal professional development portfolio.

To participate in departmental audit and research projects

Ensure compliance with infection control procedures.

Full-time Locum Consultant Paediatrician with a responsibility in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The post is available for immediate start and will run until August 2025. It is anticipated that a substantive post will be advertised in early 2025.

This post is a 10 PA locum Consultant Paediatric Respiratory Paediatrician post to be an integral part of the PRM team. This will allow the service to move to a clinic free acute service week model. The Job plan will be finalised in discussion with the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will join a team of 5 Consultants. The post will involve inpatient service weeks (inc LTV), general respiratory, LTV, asthma and CF clinics and complex sleep work. Depending on the skills of the appointee there is potential to contribute to or develop skills in bronchoscopy.

The Major Trauma Unit C30, is currently a specialty level 1 unit with 18 beds. Due to the success of the unit we are now expanding with 8 additional beds, bringing the total to 26.

C30 can be a fast pace, dynamic area to work in as we receive patients directly from the Emergency Department (ED), theatre, and critical care and patients who are repatriated from other hospitals.

Major Trauma is a rewarding area to work in especially when patients who have suffered severe injuries who make great progression and go home to their families or further rehabilitation.
