This is a full-time (10 PA) Consultant Psychiatrist post, with on call duties.



The successful applicant will be providing input to Osprey Ward. The post will be based at Swallownest Court. Swallownest Court is in Rotherham with easy access to the M1 motorway and 30 minutes commute from Sheffield.



This post has a 30% Recruitment Premium added to the base salary for 3 years. Assistance with relocation is available in certain circumstances

General duties of the post holder:

1. To work with the Care Group Director, Care Group Medical Director, Service Manager and Modern Matron (in-patient services) in the forward planning and further development of services within the Trust.

2. To take part in the Consultant on-call rota within Rotherham mental health in-patient services, covering adult, older adult and learning disability services. On call work is assessed to be Category A and low frequency and is currently 1 in 20, which attracts a payment of 3% of the basic salary

3. To support and participate in Clinical Governance and Audit projects within the service

4. To participate in continuing professional development according to Royal College of Psychiatrists guidelines and to maintain good standing with the College regarding CPD.

5. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to evidence based practice and to the application of NICE guidelines and Trust guidelines relevant to patients

6. To contribute to under-graduate teaching.

7. To comply with Trust policies, procedures and to contribute to the formulation of Trust clinical policies as appropriate

8. To undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.

Older People’s Mental Health Consultant Psychiatrist in the Rotherham Community Mental Health Team. The successful applicant will be one of two full time consultants providing day to day medical support to the Older People’s Community Teams in Rotherham (two consultants in total). We are looking for someone enthusiastic and encouraging to join our fantastic team in Chapeltown. We have 8 supported living services that serve 10 people, who all live in their own homes which are all in walking distance from one another.

You will be working in their own homes, so it’s important you can connect, share interests and be interested. The people we support love to get out into the community and enjoy a range of interests from Disney and bowling to shopping and walking. Helping to build and support positive relationships with others is important here. If you are good at cooking, managing a budget, or just passionate about helping others, then you could be part of our team supporting people to maintain or learn new skills needed to live their best life!

This vacancy is for both full time and part time hours.

If you enjoy building meaningful relationships and think you could plan, communicate and deliver support with and alongside people, then this is the place for you.

You should be available to work a variety of shifts across the week including long days, sleep-in shifts and alternate weekends. You do not need to be able to drive for this role, however, a full UK Driving Licence is preferable.

Ability to commute/relocate: Sheffield S35 - You must be able to reliably commute for shift start times or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Gender is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010

Affinity Trust does not presently hold a Sponsorship Licence and while this status is reviewed regularly there is no present proposal to apply for such a Licence.
