About the role:

We currently have an opportunity for a Claims Handler to join the well-established in-house Insurance team, based at our Doxford Park, Sunderland head office. The role is offered on a hybrid basis, a blend of office and home working, once all training has been completed. The insurance team at Gentoo procures insurance coverage for the group and provides an in-house claims-handling service. They manage all insurance claims including third party property damage, motor accidents and personal injury cases which are dealt with in the County Courts. They provide advice and assistance on insurance matters across the Group and produce regular reports to keep colleagues updated about trends. In this fast-paced role, you will work as part of a small team to provide an in-house claims-handling service and provide guidance and advice to the Group. Using your analytic and problem-solving skills you will take ownership of non-routine claims and investigations, and keep customers informed of insurance claim status and developments. You will also maintain the claims management system and assist in the annual insurance negotiation process. The role is subject to a basic DBS paid for by Gentoo. What we are looking for:
It would be ideal if you have previous experience working in insurance claims or similar environments, however not essential if you have the following: Demonstrable experience working with customers via phone and e-mail (both internal and external) with excellent listening and questioning skills is essential. You will also be able to demonstrate strong numerical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrable analytic skills in producing reports and analysis, from in-house systems with the ability to interpret information and statistics and format in Microsoft Excel and Word are essential.
