2 Posts- One with a focus of Upper Limb and the second with a focus on Lower limb. These posts sit within the Orthopaedic Team at Associate Specialist grade and will include Consultant and Middle Grade level responsibilities. This post should appeal to senior Middle grade surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery looking to progress their careers to a higher level of performance, autonomy and independence whilst still working within an enthusiastic Consultant led unit.

It is anticipated that this role will appeal to existing Associate Specialists, Specialist Registrars, Senior Staff/Trust Grades and Fellows.

The Orthopaedic Team currently consists of 16 orthopaedic surgeons providing on call, trauma and elective services at York Hospital. All of the surgeons and middle grade doctors work on a seconded basis at the local Independent Sector Treatment Centre (Clifton Park NHS Treatment Centre).

We have a 30 bedded trauma ward, and a busy outpatient department. There are four dedicated orthopaedic operating theatres with laminar flow – one trauma, two elective and one day case located in the Day Treatment Unit.

We have an established multi-disciplinary team working alongside the surgeons, including Extended Scope Physiotherapists and Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

We are looking for enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our team at York on the Coronary Care Unit.

CCU has 8 monitored beds and an extensive cardiac telemetry service which continuously remotely monitors patients throughout the hospital.

The nursing team includes a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week Cardiac Outreach Service, receiving referrals for patients in ED or throughout the hospital. The cardiac outreach nurse will review and clinically assess patients with chest pain, ST elevation, raised troponin, arrhythmias and heart blocks.

We provide nurse led cardioversion, diagnoses of STEMI and referral / transfer to a centre for PPCI, thrombolysis, emergency pacing and non-invasive ventilation. We also attend all crash calls on site and are able to lead a cardiac arrest.

You will be expected to deliver high standards of care, following best practice, protocols & pathways. You should have a keen interest in nursing cardiology patients in an acute unit, with a commitment to learn & develop your skills.

It is desirable that you have completed the ILS course and an ECG course, but essential that you have at least completed a BLS.
• Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures

Operational Responsibilities
• Responsible for raising awareness about the CQC Registration Requirements across all areas of the Trust and will need a thorough understanding of national inspection criteria and links with CQC Registration Requirements, other national directives, litigation and claim implications.

• Responsible for ensuring policy documents meet the CQC registration requirements and the robust implementation and monitoring of all policy documents.

• The post holder will be responsible for assisting with the management of the external visits/inspection and accreditations system. • The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that robust evidence is available for external inspections in the appropriate electronic format (where possible). • Will prepare and co-ordinate all aspects of external assessment days in liaison with the Head of Compliance and Emergency Planning. This will include informing key personnel that they will need to be available on the assessment day to provide further evidence in person.
• Responsible for supporting and facilitating internal comprehensive inspections of Trust services and teams against CQC registration requirements. This will involve management of an annual calendar of inspections in partnership with operational and other support services, development of appropriate audit tools and review of intelligence held.
• Responsible for the coordination of Healthwatch and Director and Governor Quality visits.
• Responsible for ensuring that national best practice, legislative and CQC requirements are considered as part of all policy/procedure and strategy review.

Communicationand Working Relationships
• The role requires excellent communication skills both verbal and written, with the ability to develop collaborative working practices and relationships at all levels within the Trust. This will require the post holder to have well developed IT skills, particularly in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point software programmes.
• The post holder will be responsible for supporting and sharing information intelligence at all appropriate levels of the Trust and providing intelligence for Trust Quality Summits.
• The post holder will report to the Head of Compliance and Emergency Planning; and Executive Team regarding performance against the external inspection requirements and highlight any barriers which may affect the project plan. This will include preparing written reports to appropriate committees.

We are a busy Technical Services Unit within the Pharmacy Department at York Hospital. Our aseptic services unit is a specialised service preparing bespoke chemotherapy, Monoclonal Antibodies as well as some Parenteral Nutrition products and a small range of other IV products.

Suitable candidates would be required to work in a cleanroom environment where duties are interesting and varied. Duties range from cleaning, maintaining, and monitoring of the cleanroom environment and equipment and stock management of drugs and consumables.

You will be required to participate in the aseptic preparation of medicines. This involves working at a pharmaceutical isolator preparing a range of intravenous medication. Full training will be given.

You will also be required to participate in the decontamination and disinfection of the aseptic unit. The aseptic unit is a sterile, clean room environment where the preparation of pharmaceutical products takes place. You will also undertake some environmental monitoring duties which are essential in ensuring that the environment remains in a controlled state.

There are also administration tasks to undertake as well as stock management activities such as stock checks, receipt of stock and expiry date checks. We are looking for a conscientious individual who will take a methodical approach to a task and who appreciates the importance of following procedures.

The entry banding for this role is either a Band 2 or Band 3. This is dependent on prior Pharmacy qualifications and experience. This will be discussed at Interview. Once fully trained and qualified the post will be a Band 3. This is a fulfilling role in itself but it is also a great steppingstone into Pharmacy with many different opportunities for career development.

The team is responsible for around 550 Cisco LAN/WAN devices, which allow network connections to over 8000 PC’s, Printers, and over 4000 Cisco IP Phones.

The team is also responsible for the Cisco video infrastructure and supports the Cisco IPT solution across the trusts estate. The team has responsibility for the perimeter security solutions deployed across the York and Scarborough teaching hospitals sites.

The Trust has recently secured a multimillion-pound project which will see us embark on a complete LAN/WAN/WiFi and DC replacement programme utilising Cisco DNA, WiFi 6 and ACI technologies, to ensure the Trust is capable of delivering safe and effective health care whilst leveraging the most recent clinical and IT technologies.
