Assisting the specialist nurses within the department to run clinics which are either nurse led ormultidisciplinary for both the CKD and Transplant Teams. They will also assist the administrative staff withany clerical jobs such as collecting or taking post and filing. They will answer the telephone and takemessages if required.

The HCA role consists of taking patient observations and testing patient urine during clinics for the specialistnurse clinics and consultant clinics to ensure the clinics run in a timely manner.

Ensures the department is kept clean and tidy between clinics and checks stock levels

for ordering supplies and fetch stock if needed.

Take urgent bloods to the labs and will take or collect prescriptions from pharmacy.

Escort patients to other departments.

Provide sandwiches and make drinks for patients if required.

Under the direction of a Maxillofacial Consultant Surgeon, the post holder will participate in operative procedures and aspects of pre, peri and post operative care. The post holder shall use the knowledge and skills attained in their successful training programme to deliver, maintain and encourage the highest levels of patient care

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES





1.0 PROFESSIONAL



1.1 Participate in operative procedures within agreed protocols.



1.2 Act as 1stor 2ndassistant or 1stoperator under the direction of a consultant surgeon.



1.3 Undertake the surgical procedures identified in the competency framework following successful completion of the training programme.



1.4 Assist the surgical team with the admission of patients (including assisting at the pre admission clinic and involvement in the pre operative assessment of patients). Patient details should be accurate, complete and appropriately recorded, and patients reassured regarding their treatment.



1.5 Arrange investigations as deemed appropriate by the clinical supervisor.



1.6 Display skill competency in the interpretation of investigations.



1.7 Display skill and dexterity in surgical technique and the use of surgical instrumentation.



1.8 Effective preoperative assessment of the surgical patient, providing a source of communication, information and reassurance for the patient.



1.9 Enable the correct positioning, preparation and draping of the surgical patient.



1.10 Development of surgical skills in accordance with continuing professional developments and continuing developments in surgical practice.



1.11 Contribute to the clinical care of the post operative patient including detecting surgical problems and liaison with the surgical team.



1.12 Ensure that all trust and divisional policies are adhered to, providing a safe healthy environment for staff and patients.



1.13 Understand the requirements of the data protection act 1984 and Caldicott report and observe patient confidentiality.



1.14 Develop, enhance and maintain safe and effective levels of communication and motivation within the multi disciplinary team.

2.0 QUALITY MANAGEMENT



2.1 Contribute to audit and information collection within the department. To initiate and pursue audit projects including assessment of the SCP / SA role, target achievements and methods of advancing and developing surgical practice and patient care.



2.2 Attend weekly Head and Neck Oncology MDT and Audit/ Clinical Governance meetings where possible.



2.3 Work as a team to ensure that protocols and guidelines are being adhered to and clinical governance requirements are met.



2.4 Update skills in accordance with developing practice in order to deliver the highest level of care.



2.5 Participate in the evaluation and determination of current and new equipment, instrumentation and techniques as reflected by current trends.





3.0 EDUCATION AND TRAINING



3.1 To have successfully achieved completion of the formal training course ‘Principles and Practice of Surgery’ relevant to achieving qualification and registration as ‘Surgical Care Practitioner’, as recommended and supported by the Royal College of Surgeons.



3.2 Maintain and enhance personal and professional knowledge and skills in all areas of responsibility by the attendance of in service and departmental meetings the attendance of national conferences where possible and to read the current professional literature and journals.



3.3 Maintain a professional affiliation to a recognised governing body .To be conversant with their professional guidelines and abide by their guidance in accordance with Trust policy.



3.5 Responsibility to participate in the training and education of appropriate members of the multi disciplinary team, by presentations, formal teaching sessions and opportunistic training.



3.6 To mentor, educate, train and support the 1stand 2ndyear trainee SCP / SA s



3.7 To keep an accurate log book of surgical activity in accordance with national and local confidentiality regulations.





4.0 GENERAL MANAGEMENT



4.1 To act as a positive role model offering effective guidance and motivation to other members of the multi disciplinary team.



4.2 To work closely with staff in Maxillofacial Theatres, and associated wards to develop and maintain a team management approach throughout the Maxillo facial Department.



4.3 To assist in the recruitment/ retention of staff.



4.4 To manage the SCP / SA team in the absence of the lead practitioner.





5.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION



5.1 To undertake any other duties not specified within the job description but are within the wide scope of the role and are within the individuals’ skills and education.



5.2 Job descriptions will be reviewed annually and is subject to change as a result of discussion between the responsible Maxillofacial Consultant, the Head and Neck Matron and the post holder.

The post holder registered with the National Association of Assistants in Surgical Practice (NAASP) and associated Code of Professional Conduct, supported by the RCS, in the performance of clinical duties, professional accountability will be to the designated Maxillofacial Consultants.

If the post holder is governed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council s/he will also be professionally responsible to the Matron of the Head and Neck Directorate. The Matron will advise on any professional issues or concerns and contribute to the post holders annual appraisal and personal development plan.

The post holder will be managerially accountable to the Lead Maxillofacial Consultant Surgeon within the Head and Neck Directorate. The Lead will be responsible for operationally managing the post holder including, annual appraisal and PDP formulation, sickness management, off duty planning, annual leave entitlement, risk and any other Human Resource issues. The Matron will assist in anyway required.

The post holder will see approximately 100 new Breast and 100 urological patients a year. Secretarial support, designated office space and appropriate IT equipment will be provided.

The post will be based at the New Cross Hospital and the patients will be seen in clinics at New Cross Hospital and will be treated at New Cross Hospital for radiotherapy and systemic treatments.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional candidate to join the Trust as the Head of Contracting. The four acute Trusts in the Black Country (The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust and Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust) have recently agreed to the creation of a single contracting team who will manage all clinical service contracts on behalf of the Trusts. 1. To develop and implement the Contracting and Commissioning Strategy across each of the organisations, working with and advising Group Managers, Senior Managers and Senior Clinicians

2. To lead on negotiations for significant and material annual service contracts on behalf of the Trusts,

3. To ensure that the Trusts has approved contracts in place for all commissioned activity,

4. Develop and maintain a contract monitoring framework which supports the Trusts in managing the contracts with commissioning bodies and ensures that robust mechanisms are in place to manage and monitor all performance relating to the commissioning contractual requirements.

5. To establish and maintain an effective system for the receipt, management and resolution and reporting of commissioning queries and performance notices,

6. To lead on discussions and negotiations with Commissioners in respect of all areas that will impact on income, and ensure that appropriate actions are in place at a senior level within the Trusts.

7. Ensure the Trusts has effective and robust systems to develop and implement the Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) Scheme and in conjunction with the Head of Performance ensure detailed performance indicators and payment schedules are delivered in light of the standard NHS contracts for Acute and Community services.

8. Establish and deliver effective systems to approve and manage service level agreements and subcontracting arrangements with a range of providers in circumstances where the Trust provides services and for those where the Trust is in receipt of services. Ensure that appropriate service managers are involved in developing agreements and understand the requirements of the SLA.

9. Ensure appropriate feedback and reporting mechanisms on matters relating to contracts and SLA's are in place to Trust senior managers and operational teams as required.

Relationships:

10. To ensure that effective working relations are maintained by the Contract Management Office across the organisation, i with other corporate and operational teams.

11. To develop and maintain effective and cohesive relationships to a senior level with all commissioning bodies including, ICB's, Specialised Services and Public Health

12. Ensure that highly effective working relationships are established and maintained with commissioners that are open, honest and focus on the key issues of managing the contract portfolios.

13. Ensure a quality assurance framework is established to ensure the delivery of information to commissioners and internally across the organisation is timely, effective and accurate.

14. In conjunction with the Deputy Chief Strategy Officer and Contract Managers, represent the Trust in discussions and negotiations with commissioners,

15. Support the internal Divisions and Directorates in developing their understanding, knowledge and ownership of current strategies and ensure the Trust has a co-ordinated and structured approach in responding to the developing intentions of all commissioners,

16. Resolve commissioning concerns in a timely and professional manner,

Management and Financial Responsibility:

17. Line manage staff working within the contracting team,

18. Day to day management of support staff associated with specific projects,

19. An integral part of the post would be to conduct regular research exercises such as bench marking as well as carrying out complex audits to improve the service and implementation of such findings,

20. Hold a budget for pay and non-pay for the Contracting function,

21. Undertakes audits as necessary to area of responsibility, reporting relative findings,

22. As the lead expert the post holder will have the responsibility in conducting highly complex negotiations, on behalf of the Trust, on a range of contracts valuing £330 million.

Your role:

You will be part of a busy and fast-paced department that is responsible for providing support to our customers who have been involved in a road traffic accident, regardless of fault. Your role will involve communicating with our customers through both verbal and written means, and discussing their options whether that be that their vehicle is repairable or has been deemed a write-off.

Our main objective is to get our customer back on the road as quickly as possible.

As a motor claims handler, you will prioritise giving our customer a smooth journey throughout the process. Whether that be by proactively chasing updates from our repair suppliers or negotiating the valuation of their vehicle that has been deemed a write-off.

It is crucial to speak confidently and provide accurate information right from the beginning to avoid any confusion and ensure a seamless customer journey.

Job Details

• Manage a portfolio of policyholder's write-off / repair claim.

• Make and receive calls from internal and external parties

• Provide excellent customer service, empathy and understanding when our customers need us most, whilst ensuring clear expectations set and regular updates provided throughout the claims process

• Validate claims and policies

• Maintaining accurate record keeping, reserves and a proactive diary system to ensure timely case reviews.
