The Alan Bray Unit is a combined Intensive care unit/ high dependency unit, which cares for a wide range of critically ill adults and children with musculo-skeletal conditions.

We are looking for adult and paediatric Band 6 nurses to join our well established team.

The unit offers good educational and professional development pathways and is innovative and forward thinking in developments within critical care.

You will be expected to make an active contribution to the unit’s development as we enter an exciting period of expansion

Applicants need to have at least significant experience in Critical Care, a mentorship Course, and an ITU course. Dual trained Paediatric and adult trained nurses desirable.

We currently have a Fellowship post in shoulder and elbow reconstruction surgery available from October 2025 for 12 months, this position is a post-CCT position. Applicants should have grounding in shoulder and elbow reconstruction surgery. This Fellowship will provide exceptional training in current techniques in primary and revision shoulder and elbow reconstruction surgery. The Fellow will work with the Consultant team and have supervised operating lists and attend outpatient clinics. There will be ample opportunity to undertake research and audit. This Fellowship is ideal for surgeons pursuing a sub –specialist career.

The post holder will be expected to develop knowledge both clinically and surgically over the 1 year fellowship. The fellow will also develop sufficient knowledge and leadership in order to take a leading role as Consultant in a department dealing with complex revision shoulder and elbow arthroplasty, During the course of the fellowship emphasis will be given to many facets of the job; not just the technical aspects of surgery and performance of outpatient clinics, but also on team working, coordination, and management including discharge planning etc.

The Fellow’s role will evolve such that they will be taught the assessment of complex shoulder and elbow conditions, leading to a supervised elective operative practice initially in primary arthroplasty of the shoulder and elbow, and arthroscopic reconstruction of instability and rotator cuff lesions. As the development of the Fellow’s portfolio proceeds so more complex operative procedures will be introduced. The Fellow will be expected to assist at all operating lists, will have independent outpatient clinic responsibilities, undertake additional daily ward rounds and support the ward administration and will be expected to develop a number of research projects, under the supervision of the Consultant staff.

The Fellow will assist in operating lists and outpatient clinics. Undertake daily ward rounds, The remaining sessions are flexible to include research and administration. Secretarial support will be provided for the post holder.

There is no on-call commitment.

It is anticipated that after 12 months in post, the Fellow will gain a vast and unique experience in reconstruction options and techniques for all aspects of shoulder and elbow conditions

The Northern Centre for Cancer Care (NCCC) is looking to appoint a Radiotherapy Service Manager and Professional Lead Therapeutic Radiographer based in Newcastle.

We are looking for a well-motivated, experienced person to lead the delivery of radiotherapy services within our Cancer Centres in Newcastle and Carlisle (Northern Centre for Cancer Care North Cumbria).

This management position within NCCC/NCCCNC involves the full range of management accountabilities including day-to-day operational management of the radiotherapy department in both Newcastle and North Cumbria.

We have 9 Varian TrueBeams, 2 Tomotherapy units, 3 CT Scanners, 1 SXT unit and 1 HDR brachytherapy unit across our two sites, delivering treatment to approximately 6000 new patients per year employing a wide range of therapies including multi-met SRS, lungs SABR, HDR gynae brachytherapy, TBI/TSEI, gated lung therapy and cardiac SABR.

The post holder takes day-to-day responsibility for delivery of the radiotherapy department’s key performance indicators as laid out in the NHS England’s service specification. This includes achieving the national cancer waiting time targets including the 62 and 31-day waits.

NCCC provides a highly specialized regional radiotherapy service to a population of circa 3.3million across the North East and North Cumbria with radiotherapy service provision for circa 2.0million.

This senior management position within NCCC/NCCC-NC involves the full range of management accountabilities for the delivery of radiotherapy services, including day-to-day operational management of the departments in both Newcastle and North Cumbria. A key objective for the post holder is to ensure equity of service delivery across the geographically spread treatment locations. This requires the post holder to ensure effective agreement exists between the departments in delivery of both strategic and operational objectives in order to deliver integrated care pathways.

The role provides radiotherapy professional leadership to the Radiotherapy Operational Delivery Network (ODN) responsible for providing radiotherapy system leadership and the delivery of NHS England’s vision and ambitions for the modernisation of radiotherapy services

The annual budgetary management responsibilities for this role include £4.6million for staff resources, and operational management and leadership of in excess of 100 staff membersAs part of the senior management team of the Cancer and Haematology Clinical Board, the post holder will work collaboratively to propose and implement changes to radiotherapy service delivery across the two radiotherapy units.

• Professional Lead Therapeutic Radiographer
• To lead and be responsible for the delivery of radiotherapy services and implementation of radiotherapy pathways ensuring a cohesive, effective and seamless service is provided to service users across NCCC and NCCC-NC

• This role will work closely in conjunction with Radiotherapy Physics and Medical Staff for delivery of radiotherapy service
• To provide line management support to the Operational Delivery Network Manager working towards achieving the objectives of the Radiotherapy Service Specification.
• To provide strategic leadership to the Northern Radiotherapy Network as a core member of the Network Oversight Group, covering area of responsibility

Your new role
Working as a Senior Insurance Case Manager, you will:

Proactively manage a portfolio of NSW Workers Compensation insurance claims to achieve the optimum outcome of an early and sustainable return to work with reasonable claim costs
Communicate over the phone and in writing with stakeholders such as workers, employers, doctors and providers to identify the need for compensation, review coverage and provide advice
Undertake ongoing insurance claim liability and entitlement reviews in relation to weekly payments and medical expenses
Assist the worker and employer with the claim process, providing support in the completion of relevant documents to ensure timely access to required services to support return to work and injury recovery
Monitor, settle and close out claims within the portfolio
Provide a high level of customer service and strive for key stakeholders
Complete administration tasks aligned to the management of a portfolio, including processing payments, reviewing documentation received for the claim, sending relevant correspondence and recording action taken in line with insurance scheme requirements
Stay up to date with developments in relation to workers' compensation insurance coverage and claims management approach and pass on relevant updates to stakeholders

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:

Experience managing claims in the Australian workers' compensation insurance industry or workers' compensation insurance frameworks overseas
Knowledge of the NSW workers' compensation scheme, legislation and policies or ability to quickly acquire the required knowledge
A high attention to detail and organisational skills
Resilience and a willingness to hold complex conversations
The want to be part of a team who enjoys working collaboratively and can also work independently
A commitment to supporting injured workers with their recovery and return to work
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
