Clinical staff here have the opportunity to participate in training for residents from Wayne State’s University School of Medicine.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general direction, using standardized recipes, following mandated food handling techniques and safety requirements, prepares appetizing meals and other related food services for patients, hospital employees, guests, cafeteria patrons and other authorized visitors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTONS:
- Read recipes.
- Cook in bulk quantities and cook to order.
- Follow production sheets.
- Maintain sanitation.
- Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education / Training:
- Associate degree in culinary arts or equivalent work experience, required.
- Ability to read, write, and perform simple math; also understand oral instructions and be able to communicate job related problems, required.
Work Experience:
- One year of relevant cooking experience required.
- Hospitality experience preferred.
- Operation of Food production equipment required.
- Knowledge of HACCP Procedures required.
