About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of an expanding school, Primrose Hill Primary School in the heart of Salford. The kitchen currently caters for approximately 350 children per day, with the school expanding we are planning for this number further increasing within the next twelve months. Citywide are committed to improving the diet of young people in Salford.

As a Cook Supervisor you will be customer focussed with the ability to motivate and lead a team in a busy Primary School environment. You would be responsible for the cooking and organisation of the catering service within school. Providing a healthy school lunch which meets the Governments nutrient based standards.

Supervisory experience within a catering environment is essential together with a high standard of food presentation and hygiene.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £38.00. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £9.50 per month. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £38.00.

Role Responsibilities

• Detailed upholstery cleaning of loungers, chairs, and relaxation areas to remove stains, dust, and debris, maintaining a pristine and welcoming environment.
• Ventilation and air filter cleaning in all spa and leisure facilities to improve air quality and ensure smooth operation of thermal areas.
• Restorative cleaning of changing rooms and locker areas, including deep scrubbing and disinfecting of showers, drains, benches, ensuring a fresh start each day.
• Preventative maintenance cleaning, such as de-scaling and grout scrubbing, to prolong the life of spa and leisure equipment and fixtures, reducing long-term maintenance needs.
• Polish and clean all mirrors, windows, and glass surfaces for a streak-free finish, ensuring every reflective surface enhances the luxurious atmosphere of the facility.

Key Requirements

• Proven experience in commercial or hospitality cleaning, preferably in a leisure, spa, or hospitality setting.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques and practices, including the use of cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with guests and team members in a friendly and professional manner.
• Physical stamina and dexterity to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting and moving equipment or supplies as needed.

Citywide is Salford City Council's catering service and provides school meals to most of Salford's schools. Our service promotes healthy eating and provides healthy, tasty and nutritious food and drink. We ensure that food provided to pupils in school is nutritious and of high quality; promote good nutritional health in all pupils; protect those who are nutritionally vulnerable and promote good eating behaviour.

As an Apprentice Assistant Cook for Citywide Services - you will work under the direction of the Cook Supervisor to provide a wide range of duties. Your overall duty will be to undertake the preparation, simple cooking, serving of meals and other general duties such as cleaning, washing up, and storage.

About your development

Full training will be provided for this role and you will complete a Level 2 Production Chef apprenticeship course, hygiene certificate and a level 2 in maths and English (unless exempt). For one day each week you will be required to attend Salford College (day and timings to be confirmed).
