Our Branch Supervisors are an essential part of the store management team, sharing responsibility for a number of key areas throughout the store and deputising for the Store Manager and Senior Team Leader in their absence. With a natural flair for team work, Branch Supervisors enjoy taking responsibility and are confident in thinking on their feet to resolve a variety of everyday challenges - all with a positive outlook while maintaining great customer and colleague relations.

As a Branch Supervisor you will be a key-holder, often opening or closing the store, and be hands-on in ensuring store standards are second to none and that the store is safe and legal. You will motivate the customer service team to provide a professional, friendly and enthusiastic service at all times, leading by example on food preparation and service, food safety, stock management and customer service.

While previous supervisory experience in retail, particularly in grocery or food to go, would be an advantage, we are looking to hear from anyone with great customer service and team working skills.

Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role

To manage the preparation, cooking and serving of meals in a safe, hygienic, efficient manner providing a high standard of customer service. Whilst also providing feedback for service improvement to the Catering Manager / Catering Team Leader and Catering Advisor

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

• An Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to undertake and pass this
  course within 6 months.
• FSA – Food Standards Agency's food allergy online training and pass this course
  within 1 month

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

• Awareness of risks within a kitchen environment.
• Ability to count cash and cheques.
• Effectively line manage staff, following Council Policies and Procedures
• Good written and numeracy skills
• Sound understanding of the English language
• Good ICT skills pertaining to the functions of catering services
• Ability to follow defined recipes provided by the service for the preparation of meals
• High standard of hygiene awareness

As a Conference & F&B Support Steward at Sodexo in Woodbank Hotel, Aberdeen, AB159PN, you’ll help with the preparation and serving of our vibrant menu whilst ensuring all working areas are clean and tidy. What you’ll do:

• To manage the meeting and conference department whilst supporting F&B within the hotel
• Carry out duty management shifts inline with hotel operating procedure
• Maintain accurate data and provide it to the relevant departments.
• Liaison with clients and customers who are using the meeting and conference facility within the hotel
• Handling meeting queries professionally and in a timely manner
• Accurate and timely billing to clients and customers
• Setting up and maintaining meeting areas, IT equipment, audio visual equipment and any other required equipment
• Ensuring all conference kit has current pat test stickers
• Liaison with the kitchen and food and beverage team to report catering figures on a daily basis
• General housekeeping of all conference areas, including recycling activities
• Ordering and replenishment of vending supplies, IT supplies and stationary
• Photocopying and printing supplies liaison
• Submission of reports as and when required
• Identification of opportunities for service improvement or development within the conference environment
• To ensure you meet Sodexo and Shell’s legal regulations on health and safety, food safety, hygiene and the environment.
• Embrace and grow a ‘zero harm mindset by ensuring the accurate reporting of near misses and accidents as well as reporting any equipment defects to your line manager in line with company procedure
• Ensure all company documents are completed with integrity and that due diligence is practiced at all time.
• Continue to develop one’s own skills and knowledge within the position
• Attend weekly team meetings to maintain levels of communication across the team
• Able to work on own initiative within a team environment.
• A positive working relationship with the client is evident
• Maintain levels of quality, cleanliness, food safety and hygiene in line with company SEMS, Safeguard and local authority regulations i.e. EHO, HSE
• Assist within the food and beverage department as and when required.

What you bring:

Essential

• Computer literate
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbally and can demonstrate experience of working with previous customers or clients
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, clients, and staff at all levels
• Good time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work well under pressure managing multiple workloads
• Ability to achieve and set standards and operate to performance criteria, with particular regard to hotel operations
• Knowledge of Health and Safety and Food Safety
• Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards
• Positive approach to learning in role and identifying own training needs as appropriate
• Self-motivated with a sense of own initiative
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Flexible approach to role - must be available to work different shifts including evenings and weekends if required by the business

Desirable

• Previous experience in meetings and events coordination
• Sound knowledge of IT and Audio visual equipment
• Food & Beverage Experience
