We are currently recruiting for a Hotel Receptionist / Porter for Bailbrook House Hotel, this prestigious luxury country house hotel is steeped in history and located within the beautiful city of Bath. Bailbrook House Hotel is a popular venue for relaxing weekends away or for weddings and events.
About the role:
We have an opportunity for someone to join our hard-working team at Bailbrook House Hotel as a Hotel Receptionist / Porter.
This is a full time role of 40 hours per week over 5 days. This role offers a mixture of hours and flexibility, including early shifts from 6:45am - 3.15pm, mid shifts of 10am - 6:30pm (to be flexible depending on the business of the day) and late shifts of 2.15pm – 10.45pm. This is on a rota basis and will include weekends, as weekends tend to be our busiest times. From time to time Night shift cover may be required to cover holiday or sickness.
Our receptionists are the first member of Hand Picked our guests speak to, which means you’ll get to make one of the biggest impressions. You will be able to give a fantastic welcome and get our customers excited about their stay, whether that’s showing off the hotel with a guided tour, or showing the guests the way to their bedroom and assisting them with their bags.It doesn’t matter if they’re first time visitors or returning guests, you’ll charm them from the initial welcome to the “have a safe journey home” with your impeccable standards of service.

About you:

You will live locally to the hotel, or within a reasonable commute.
You’ll have experience working as a Hotel Receptionist and knowledge of Opera is desirable.
You will be confident in running your own shifts, but also enjoy working within a team.
You’ll be passionate about making our guests feel at home, and will develop a thorough knowledge of our of hotel products and services.
You’ll feel comfortable in a fast-paced, busy environment and be able to assist guests and our tour groups with their luggage to their rooms.

Job Scope

The Keepers Kitchen & Bar is a new fresh concept from Accor and this opening will only be the fourth of it's kind in the UK. It's a great place to relax, unwind and indulge, morning, noon or night.

Keeper's is open all day offering British, international classics and Keeper’s favourite dishes, featuring our signature house honey.

The sous chef will help direct the operation of the kitchen including food preparation and quality, physical maintenance and inventory functions to ensure hotel quality standards and revenue goals are met. The successful candidate will also be hands-on with any due diligence required from a kitchen point of view.

Under the general supervision of the Head Chef you will oversee the general day-to-day aspects of the Food and Beverage operation. The sous chef will promote the desired work culture and ethics aligned with our company values, remaining calm and level headed whilst creating a fun and positive atmosphere within the kitchen.

The right candidate will be self-driven and thrive whilst working under pressure, consistency and time keeping as well as a willingness to learn will be key. There will be opportunity for ongoing training and support in learning the necessary tools to cover responsibilities of the Head Chef in their absence.

Key Job Responsibilities


Involved in the preparation, cooking, service and storage of the following dishes:

Appetizers, Savouries, Salads and Sandwiches
Applies organization skills for mis en place
Sauces
Produces hot and cold sauces for menu items ensuring consistency
Eggs, Vegetables, Fruit, Rice and Farinaceus Dishes
Pultry and Game dishes
Meat dishes
Meat marinades
Carve meats
Fish and shellfish
Sauces for fish and shellfish
Garnishing techniques and methods of service for fish
Petit fours
Desserts, pastry, cakes and yeast goods





Communicates to Line Manager any difficulties, guest or internal customer comment and other relevant information.
Attends and participates in daily briefings and other meetings as scheduled.
Prepares Regional Dishes appropriate to the hotel menu, location and guest mix.
Provides direction to the Kitchen staff, including Chef de Parties, Commis, Cooks, Kitchen


Attendants and Kitchen Porters.


Works alongside the Head Chef to control and analyse, on an on-going basis, in order to optimize the following:

Quality levels for product and service
Guest satisfaction
Operating costs
Sanitation and cleanliness (hygiene)





Coordinates and supervises the preparation, presentation and service of food products to ensure the highest quality at all times.


WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING


1 years previous experience of a management/supervisory Sous Chef role
Experience within a Hotel Restaurant Operations is desired, but not essential

Job Scope

Under the general guidance and supervision of the Hotel Manager, directs Restaurant, Bar & Meeting rooms to ensure quality service and standards while delivering a guest experience that is unique. Ensure compliance with all governmental regulations concerning health, safety or other requirements.

Key Job Responsibilities

Revenue:


Effectively manage staffing costs by preparing efficient work scheduled in line with legal requirements
Develop departmental standards and procedures to promote sales and beverage creativity and profit
In partnership with other department heads, identify additional sales opportunities to enhance revenue
Ensure all credit and financial transactions are handled in a secure manner
With the direction of the Operations Manager, co-ordinate the preparation of the departmental annual budget by monitoring and controlling the departmental operations, considering revenue and expenditure
On an on-going basis, control and analyse departmental costs to ensure performance against budget, implementing corrective measures where necessary to produce positive business results


People:


Direct day-to-day staffing requirements, plan and assign work and establish performance and development goals for team members. Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve team member performance
Educate and train all team members in compliance with governmental regulations. Ensure staff are properly trained in quality and service standards and have the tools and equipment to carry out job duties
Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
Recommend and/or initiate salary, disciplinary or other staffing/human resources-related actions in accordance with company rules and policies
Work with the company’s Culture Team to include planning for future staffing needs; recruitment in line with company guidelines; prepare detailed induction programmes for new staff; maintain a comprehensive, current and guest focused set of departmental standards and procedures and oversee their implementation


Guest Experience:


Ensure that all food and beverage facilities and equipment are cleaned, vacuumed and properly stocked according to anticipated business volume. Notify Maintenance Team immediately of any maintenance and repair needs
Establish and achieve quality and guest satisfaction goals. Respond in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction
Analyse guest insights to identify and meet customer expectations and build on guest loyalty
Interact with guests to ensure expectations are being met
Appreciate the dynamic nature of the hotel industry and extend these service attributes to all internal customers
Maintain a high level of product and service knowledge about all Cycas hotels & Marriott hotels in your region


Responsible Business:


Manage local food and beverage marketing programmes for the hotel; participate in and maintain system-wide food and beverage marketing programmes and promotions. Monitor local competitors and industry trends
Ensure security and proper storage of food and beverage products, inventory and equipment and replenish supplies in a timely and efficient manner while minimising waste
Perform other duties as assigned. May also serve as a manager on duty
