We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team, supporting delivery of our ward-based clinical pharmacy services to patients within the Acute Medicine & Rehabilitation Directorate.

Within this role you will work with a supportive team of experienced Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Assistants to ensure medicines optimisation on the fast-paced medical units at the John Radcliffe Hospital, including undertaking medicines reconciliation, supporting ward-based dispensing of medication and ensuring safe and effective use of medicines at a ward level. This requires a good understanding of appropriate medicines management and a flexible approach to working.

Ensure the delivery of a responsive, high quality, value for money service within the organisation. Achieve patient access standards and activity targets with the available resources. Monitor and take action to ensure that all quality, productivity, and profitability targets are achieved. Develop services in line with the Trusts strategic direction in collaboration with Directorate and Divisional Management Team. In line with Clinical Directorate and Trust strategy, develop best practice, service modernisation and improvement plans to enhance patient experience and deliver value for money. In collaboration with the Clinical Director and Directorate Manager facilitate change within and across organisational and professional boundaries. Business Planning and Financial Management Work with the Clinical Director and Directorate Manager to formulate an effective and viable business plan for the service. Work to ensure that it conforms with the overall Clinical Directorate and Trust business plan; takes account of the demand for services from the Trust, considering local and national trends, and developments. To be accountable for delegated budgets and ensure the achievement of financial balance. Lead and coordinate where necessary the development and delivery of cost improvement programmes and manage expenditure within the designated control levels. Performance Management To be responsible for the delivery and monitoring of performance against set targets (activity, finance, outcomes, and utilisation) and address variances should they occur to ensure effective delivery of service and standards. Responsible for the effective management of workforce establishment control within budget. Work directly with the Directorate Manager, Finance Business Partner and Clinical Director regarding financial procedures utilising a balance scorecard approach to provide monthly summaries of financial and activity performance for relevant meetings, highlighting areas of variance. Ensure the utilisation of management information systems to support the efficient and effective management of resources against agreed financial and activity targets. Work closely with other Senior Nurses to ensure the Trust wide standards and objectives are achieved, and effective management of Trust wide strategies are implemented. Human Resources Management To lead, manage, motivate, and develop staff to maintain the highest level of staff morale and to create a climate within the directorate characterised by high standards of openness. Communicate the Trusts and Directorates objectives, future plan and current progress against plans to all staff within the area. Ensure the contributions and perspectives of all clinical and other staff are heard, valued and influence management decision making. Ensure training and development needs of nursing staff within the area are identified and reflected in the annual business plan. Line manages all designated nursing staff in the service in line with the Trusts HR policies and procedures, providing annual appraisal. In conjunction with the Directorate Manager, Clinical Director and HR Business Partner develop local workforce plans, employee engagement and workforce productivity plans to ensure delivery of the Trusts Workforce Strategy, focusing on enhancing the commitment of staff and optimising workforce productivity and performance. Ensure that staff management arrangements within the service are consistent with HR policies and procedures within the Trust and to ensure that good practice in recruitment, appraisal, performance management and other policies are maintained. Utilise workforce efficiently and effectively to ensure the structure and skill mix reflects the activity demands and to implement skill mix, staff deployment/changes as appropriate to meet the changing needs of patients within the financial budget. Promote equal opportunities for staff and patients in accordance with the Trusts policies. Quality, Clinical Governance and Risk Management To be highly visible by working clinically across the clinical areas. Be accessible to nursing staff, patients, and the public, ensuring open, honest communication and examining and reinforcing delivery of safe, evidence-based, high standards of care in line with the Trust values. Support the development and delivery of the Governance agenda including clinical and non-clinical aspects of care and service; this will include establishing systems to audit and monitor clinical standards ensuring high standards of care that is evidence based and integral to service delivery. At all times involve patients and service users others in developing and enhancing services. Carry out regular reviews of incidents, complaints, risk assessments and other multidisciplinary audits across the service and organisation where related to service. Ensure transparency, and that appropriate action planning and follow-up is taken to address and reduce risk, and that learning is disseminated across the organisation. Participate in cross directorate and divisional governance committees in order to communicate relevant audit, governance and quality issues, and to disseminate information in order to improve patient care. To lead and develop patient engagement and involvement initiatives within the service and across the organsiation relating to pain services. To identify and deal efficiently with poor practice or declining standards of care relating to specialty. To manage delegated administrative and managerial process i.e., complaints, critical incidents, and safety alerts. To be involved in clinical governance forums across multiple specialties, as required. Co-ordinate implementation of PSIRF with clinical leads. Analyse, interpretate and compare all information and options in order to formulate an objective review of quality of care.
