The post will be integrated into the sexual health service and as such the post holder will be required to provide evidence based specialist sexual health care for patients attending sexual health clinics. You will assist with the day to day running of the Emergency Department, ensuring the highest possible quality of care is delivered to patients, relatives and carers who attend. You will provide Assessment, care and treatment to all patients who present to the Alexandra Emergency Department. You will support the band 7 in their responsibility for ensuring and maintaining of a clinical environment in which care and compassion is constantly demonstrated seven days, twenty four hour service. You will maintain develop your own professional development including attending all statutory, mandatory and trust specific training. You will use effective communication skills of negotiation, persuasion and empathy to enable timely and effective communication with your own staff and the wider MDT team and other agencies.

Role Details You will develop, implement and evaluate the programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient. You will safeguard vulnerable adults. You will participate in preceptorship programmes as appropriate and act as a facilitator / mentor / preceptor / role model to less experienced staff. You will educate patients and their careers as required where a need has been identified, including information on a adopting a healthier lifestyle. You will complete patient documentation correctly. You will communicate effectively with patients, carers and members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team. You will be responsible for developing and sustaining own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness in accordance with PREP requirements and to maintain a professional portfolio with evidence of reflective practice. You will assist in the training and development of student nurses and health care assistants and complete assessors training as required. You will contribute to research and development programmes within the ward / department. You will contribute to the setting and monitoring of measurable standards of care and be accountable for maintaining standards. You will participate in handling complaints in accordance with Trust policy. You will maintain a safe clean ward environment and ensure all appropriate general risk assessments are carried out within 24 hours of admission document and plan care accordingly e.g. manual handling, pressure risks, slips trips and falls, nutrition, safeguarding. You will show an awareness of budgeting, exercising care and economy in the ordering and use of equipment. You will assist in the assessment of staffing requirements, report problems to the appropriate manager. Develop and manage a new-build mental health supported living service for 14 people with mental health needs.

You will work with service users, their families, other agencies to assess needs and to plan a successful transition into the service, creating the foundations for greater independence and personal fulfilment. You will ensure that individuals are enabled to make progress in their personal recovery journey and to attain goals relating to their mental health & wellbeing, independence, maintenance of their tenancy, quality of life and community connections.
