Regional Data Protection Officer (APAC) – International Beauty Brand

The organisation is attentive to current Data Protection and regulatory trends and updates. Professionals are sought to manage and assess existing risks, strategize, and define actions, processes, and frameworks at the company level on a daily operational basis.
About the Role
A newly established position for APAC, the Regional Data Protection Officer (DPO) facilitates senior management and teams in the APAC region in establishing and maintaining compliant data protection and privacy practices in accordance with regional laws. This role reports to the APAC Regional Organization, holds direct responsibilities within the Data Protection/Privacy Organization, and collaborates with the Central Data Protection team.

· Assessing, managing and monitoring compliance of regional activities to applicable data protection and privacy laws
· Lead to update/localise existing group Data Protection policies, standards and procedures to conform to internal best practice and local Data Privacy laws / regulations. Develop missing ones.
· Monitoring compliance with the Global Privacy Program across APAC regions including ensuring adherence to data protection-related policies
· Making filings with, responding to, and act as the contact point for the supervisory authority and maintaining relationships with, data protection regulators across APAC
· Acting as a point of contact for data subjects with regards to their requests;
· Generating and regularly update Compliance Management KPIs;
Ideal Candidate
· Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Law, Information Technology Law, or an equivalent field
· Minimum of 5 years of experience with substantial knowledge and expertise in Data Protection/Privacy, with a specific emphasis on the APAC region
· Extensive experience in the realm of data privacy law and compliance, preferably within a multinational organisation
· Solid understanding of Personal Data Protection and Privacy Laws, particularly the GDPR, PDPA, PIPA, APP, APPI, and familiarity with other significant privacy frameworks and legislations in the region
· Qualification on Data Privacy such as IAPP Information Privacy Professional/Asia (CIPP/A) and Europe (CIPP/E), IAPP Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) or Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPP/IT), Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) or equivalent data privacy qualification
