- Ability to get on well with people at all levels and work effectively as a team member. - To be responsible for working with colleagues and managers to provide a safe and welcoming environment for staff, patients and visitors - To support cross county provision of services, working in both of the counties Orthopaedic and fracture clinics. - Under guidance, deliver safe patient care within a challenging and changing clinical environment, using equipment and resources safely and as appropriate. - Discretion and understanding of confidentiality and data protection - To understand and adhere to all Trust policies and procedures. - To communicate effectively, especially where patient ability to do so is compromised. On occasions, the job holder may be exposed to distressing or emotional circumstances. - To act as a chaperone for patients attending clinic appointments. - Undertake specific delegated tasks following the appropriate training and competency level e.g., patient observations and patient personal hygiene, application of simple off the shelf splints and braces, remove plaster casts, record ECG, MRSA screening and venepuncture, arranging admission of patients to wards from clinic. - To participate and contribute to team meetings/ discussions engaging with the team and participating in the ongoing development of the Outpatient Department. - There are also opportunities to progress within the department, following appropriate training and experience. - Will be required to work within the recognised Manual Handling Guidelines. - May be extended to frequently manoeuvre patients/objects over 15kg using appropriate aids for short periods of time. - Will have occasional exposure to unpleasant working conditions and will be required to follow policies and procedures pertaining to bodily fluids, infection control and COSHH regulations. - May be required to work in confined spaces. - Ability to work where the work pattern may be unpredictable e.g. prioritising patient demands.
