This Senior Specialist Nurserole is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nurse to join a well-established, multi-disciplinary team providing secondary care to people with a primary diagnosis of psychosis.

The successful applicant will have extensive experience and knowledge of working with people living with severe and enduring mental illness. They will be able to provide evidence based interventions and support to the most complex service users within the South Camden Rehabilitation & Recovery Service.

The post holder will have additional responsibilities as assigned by the Service Manager and play an active role in the development of the service through Quality Improvement and supervision of junior staff.

The South Camden Rehabilitation & Recovery Service is a well-established, multi-disciplinary team providing secondary care to people with an established diagnosis of psychosis. The team provides a range of interventions to support recovery including medication, psychological therapies, welfare rights advice, social care input, occupational therapy and employment support.

The post holder will work alongside an existing Band 7 OT to manage a case load across wards in different clinical areas. The patients will require specialist rehabilitation which may include skills in specialist seating and positioning as well as cognitive assessment and rehabilitation. A sound knowledge and experience in these areas is essential. Excellent communication skills are essential, to include verbal and written communication. You will work autonomously to prioritise and organise your own workload. You should have excellent organisational and time management skills. You will work as part of a specialist multi-disciplinary team as well as the occupational therapy team. Specialist knowledge across a range of therapy practices, requiring expertise within the field of Occupational Therapy is essential as well as comprehensive knowledge of an Acute Health Care Environment.

You will be involved in a variety of professional roles, demonstrating excellent communicate and professional skills and knowledge to work effectively across the service, with the ability to work on your own initiative and as a committed team player. You will provide leadership within the team to include supporting the day-to-day decision making in the team, being significantly involved in facilitating supervision, taking forward quality initiatives, implementing change and service developments that support the trust strategy. This position would be ideal for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with a vision to develop their career and clinical expertise within dementia and frailty. The post would require the successful applicant to have experience within mental health services and have a sound awareness of risk management in this environment. You will be expected to utilise specialist functional assessments and interventions including the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) which is primarily used within the trust. You will have the direct support of the Ward Manager, Matron, a Band 7 Lead OT, OT Consultant, other Band 6 staff and activity worker. You will be provided with opportunity to identify unique development needs, reflect on and enhance their skills and knowledge as well as receive ongoing support on a regular basis.
