Act as a point of contact for patients, carers and referrers and discussing potential referrals with them. Carry out joint assessments of children and families presenting with a suspected Eating Disorder. Undertake risk assessment and risk management planning for those presenting with high risk behaviours and liaise closely with colleagues across a range of care teams to provide timely, accurate and effective treatment, supporting non-specialist colleagues in carrying out direct work themselves wherever this is appropriate. Deliver evidence-based interventions to children, young people, and families/carers presenting with Eating Disorders and co-morbid mental health diagnoses and to be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team. KEY RELATIONSHIPS Internal Intensive Treatment Team Manager/Operational Manager All team members within CAMHS ITT Professionals within the locality Tier 3 CAMHS teams, Childrens Social Care, Education, integrated therapy services, district general hospitals, Psychiatric Liaison Nurses, Community Eating Disorders Service for Children and Young People (CEDS-CYP) and psychiatric inpatient units. External Children, young people and their families / carers. Education environments including schools and colleges. Childrens Social Care Directorate. Local Authority staff providing services for young people. Voluntary organisations offering services for young people Main duties/responsibilities To undertake a range of procedures and practices underpinned by theoretical knowledge or relevant practice. To undertake training to be able to deliver brief interventions for a range of mental health difficulties to children and young people. To ensure that all appropriate assessments, plans and interventions are formulated within established, evidence-based systems and methods. To identify and discuss a range of health and social care needs with service users, carers and other professionals. To develop and co-ordinate specialised packages of care and intervention, underpinned by the principles of the Recovery Care Programme Approach (RCPA). To identify realistic and measurable goals /targets utilising evidence based approaches. To provide support and advice to service users, carers, colleagues and other professionals. To provide other healthcare professionals with specialised advice regarding mental health issues. To evaluate and reflect upon the quality of care given and the goals achieved. Be responsible for maintaining and influencing professional standards in relation to government policy, frameworks and Trust directives.

Clinical Responsibilities Acting as a point of contact for patients, carers and referrers and discussing potential referrals with them Referring on elsewhere cases which are better dealt with in other settings Conducting detailed screening by phone or in person as per protocols in order to obtain the most pertinent information so as to determine how referred cases should be dealt with Underpinning this activity by creating an information base of local and national resources, in conjunction with colleagues, and passing on this information to referrers, patients and carers as appropriate/necessary Network and build informal and professional links for MHST across the locality, to maximize user choice, good communication and service coordination Liaise closely with relevant professionals involved with particularly vulnerable groups, for example, Looked after Childrens Nurse in relation to Looked After Children Liaise closely with colleagues in primary and secondary level care teams to provide timely, accurate and effective pathways to care, supporting non-specialist colleagues in carrying out direct work themselves wherever this is appropriate Deliver short term /solution focused interventions to children, young people, and families To carry out joint and individual assessments of children and families who are referred To decide on appropriate course of action with the children and families, and involved professionals To devise treatment plans with MHST colleagues and assist them to carry these through To evaluate reassess and redefine treatment plans with MHST/Education staff as necessary.
