About the role

The Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental legislation, while driving best practices across our diverse range of projects. You will be responsible for maintaining a strong safety culture, managing HSE policies, and implementing environmentally sustainable solutions, while utilizing advanced technology platforms to streamline operations. Reporting to Senior Management, you will also support both in-house and subcontractor teams across various sectors, ensuring smooth, compliant, and efficient project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Maintain key industry accreditations (CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, Compliance Chain), ensuring compliance and timely renewal.
• Develop, implement, and continuously review health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant UK legislation.
• Utilise technology platforms to manage documentation, audits, and reporting for health and safety compliance.
• Provide HSE guidance during the preconstruction phase for all divisions, ensuring
• compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 and relevant environmental regulations.
• Review and approve Construction Phase Plans and site-specific HSE documentation, utilizing tech platforms to streamline communication and document control.
• Conduct investigations into both safety and environmental incidents, generating reports and ensuring timely corrective actions using automated systems for tracking and reporting.

Experience

• NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
• IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) Foundation Certificate or equivalent environmental qualification (Desirable)
• In-depth knowledge of ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) systems (Desirable)
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar HSE management role, ideally within the construction industry

KEY DUTIES
• To act as the System Manager for the Pharmacy CMM Stock Control system.
• To work under the direction of the Principal Clinical Pharmacist – Medicines Optimisation in managing the purchasing section of the pharmacy to ensure that the purchase transactions of pharmaceuticals is processed accurately and efficiently to meet the section’s customers’ needs.

KEY DUTIES The Clinical Pharmacy Services Manager undertakes the following duties: Responsible for the delivery and development of clinical pharmacy services on the Whiston, St. Helens and Newton sites (inc. community services as appropriate). In conjunction with the Clinical Pharmacy Service Manager (Southport & Ormskirk sites) develop and implement clinical pharmacy standards and competency frameworks to ensure safe and effective use of medicines throughout MWL Trust. Identify areas for service development and prepare business cases to secure funding for the expansion of clinical pharmacy services. Liaise with external agencies and produce Service Level Agreements for provision of pharmacy services. Managerially responsible for all clinical pharmacists and ward-based pharmacy technicians on the Whiston, St. Helens and Newton sites (inc. community services as appropriate) Organise and carry out recruitment interviews for pharmacists/technicians including chairing of interview panels. Undertake individual appraisals for senior pharmacists and technicians in the department and manage the cascade of appraisal throughout the clinical pharmacy service at Whiston, St. Helens and Newton sites (inc. community services as appropriate) Ensure each pharmacist has a Personal Development Plan Be responsible for approving pharmacists annual leave, carer leave and study leave. Have close working relationship with all pharmacists and assist in dealing with any personal issues which may arise. To continually monitor staff performance and facilitate any grievance or disciplinary procedure which may arise. Plan dispensary and ward pharmacist rotas on a weekly and quarterly basis. To work with Trust Directors and Assistant Directors to ensure that the Pharmacy service contributes to achievement of the Trusts strategic objectives. To be an active member of the Senior Pharmacy Management Team In the absence of the Chief Pharmacist and the Deputy Chief Pharmacist - Operations be managerially accountable for the Pharmacy Department Functions Assist the Chief Pharmacist in identifying areas of cost saving which will contribute to the Trust and pharmacy CIP strategy. Ensure that appropriate action is implemented and monitored to ensure the CIP target is achieved. Monitor drug expenditure in designated speciality. Highlight areas of unexplained spending and develop strategies to save money. Produce reports and audits on behalf of the Trust on medicines management issues and assist the Chief Pharmacist with mandatory reports e.g. internal & external auditors, CQC etc. To liaise with local Place Leads around Medicines Management, the improvement in communication across the interface and development of services. To assist in the production of a Pharmacy strategy to improve the Trusts performance against the standards for medicines management detailed in national policy. CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES To provide a highly specialist clinical pharmacy service to allocated wards of Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in accordance with departmental procedures. This will include: Taking drug histories on admission and informing medical staff of any discrepancies with medication prescribed to ensure continuity of treatment. Checking medical notes of each new patient to ascertain presenting complaint, past medical history, working diagnosis and relevant biochemical, haematological and microbiological test results to ensure safe and effective medicines use. Formulate individual pharmaceutical care plans and implement appropriate monitoring of therapy to ensure safe and effective therapy. Review and update care plans depending on response, results of investigations and adverse effects to ensure safe and effective therapy. Annotate patients medicines Kardex/EPMA record with details of any allergies and specific instructions relating to administration of medicines to ensure safe and effective therapy. Checking patients own drugs for suitability to reuse to ensure safe and effective therapy and achieve medication cost containment. Liaise with nursing and medical staff on issues relating to patients drug therapy to ensure safe and effective therapy. Monitor for adverse drug reactions and submit yellow cards where appropriate. Therapeutic drug monitoring for specific drugs with a narrow therapeutic window to ensure safe and effective therapy. Ensure compliance with formularies, policies, and procedures. Educate patients about their drug therapy to enable concordance. To ensure appropriate antibiotic use in compliance with the Trusts Antibiotic Policy and in accordance with the results of samples. Develop evidence-based treatment protocols for use either within the directorate or across the Trust where appropriate. Facilitate the implementation of local and national guidelines where appropriate. As a Trust approved Independent Non-medical prescriber, prescribe medication where appropriate in accordance with personal formulary. Provide professional and legal supervision when necessary to the dispensaries. Duties will include: Professional checking of inpatient requisitions and TTOs. Ensuring all prescriptions comply with the Medicines Act. Ensuring all prescriptions comply with the Misuse of Drugs Act where appropriate. Final checking of prescriptions for accuracy prior to release including extemporaneously dispensed items. Labelling and dispensing of medication as required including extemporaneously dispensed items. Providing advice to patients on how to take their medicines and potential side effects. Advice to Doctors, nurses and other professionals as required. Order receive and dispense controlled drugs in accordance with the Misuse of Drugs Act. Dispense extemporaneously on call when required to do so.

Support pathways for smooth transition between primary, secondary, and tertiary care for patients, particularly those who are newly diagnosed or whose symptoms are poorly controlled, by liaison with specialists within primary and secondary care. Inform the development of policies and procedures relevant to the care of people with long term conditions and acute diseases by co-operating and assisting in research programmes relating to the client group.
