The Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care. The focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction. Ability to formulate a plan of care based on nursing assessments. Seeks guidance on how to improve care provided to patients and families. Delegates elements of care to the appropriate individual based upon assessed needs, condition, and safety of the patient. The nurse brings principles and theory with limited application of critical thinking skills.
Duties
- Manages workload as assigned, organizes, and completes own assignments in an efficient and appropriate manner.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of interdisciplinary care. I
- Incorporating and implementing the requirements of the other qualification standards including: - Documents assessment and interventions by policy and practice standards (Essentris, CPRS)
- Conducts bedside, patient centered rounds utilizing SBAR tool and all transition of care
- Activate Emergency Response, Code Stroke and Coed per policy/guidelines. Remain with patient at all times during emergency to support patient and provide relevant information to response personnel.
- Demonstrates proficiency in tele ICU patient care system
- Manages patients requiring hemodynamic monitoring.
- Manages patients with ventriculostomy.
- Manages patients on ventilator.
- Manages patient with acute ischemic stroke
- Manages patients with pacemaker.
- Manages patient with central venous access.
- Manages patient with cardiac arrest.
- Manages patients with moderate sedation.
- Mentors and precepts new staff and students.
- ABGs and Venous access
- Manages patient with Impella and Intra-aortic balloon pump
- Manages patient with external pacing wires.
- Manages patient with tracheotomy (capped or uncapped): and patients requiring airway management.
- Performs 12 lead EKG by policy/ guideline
