General Purpose of Job:

The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for managing and completing the credentialing of Driscoll Health Plan (DHP) managed care network providers (practitioners and institutions), and assist with the oversight of delegation of credentialing to provider groups. This position ensures completeness of all required documentation for credentialing/recredentialing, facilitates the credentialing process, and maintains provider data integrity per DHP policy, federal, state and accreditation requirements. Responsible for providing support to DHP Network providers to ensure efficacy of the credentialing process.

• Supports the Primary Source Verification (PSV) functions with the Credentialing Verification Organization (CVO), to include entry of CVO data in the DHP credentialing management system, quality review of documents to ensure all required guidelines are met.
• May conduct primary source verification for initial/re-credentialing applications in accordance with defined workflows and established policies and procedures if CVO documentation is outside timeline requirements.
• Imports all applications from the online application portal in accordance with policy for data standardization as needed.
• Communicates with health care providers to clarify questions and request any missing information.

• Responsible for the follow-up on missing data and/or discrepancies in accordance with established time frames and based on knowledge of general credential processes.
• Maintains integrity of the credentialing database and all practitioner records. Utilizes appropriate database tracking reports to ensure accuracy and thoroughness of imported data as well as data that may be entered manually.
• Serves as a liaison with provider groups, office managers and providers regarding managed care credentialing applications, statuses, and missing information.
• Submits required reports, ad hoc reports, and completed projects to management in a timely manner.

• Performs other duties as assigned to facilitate meeting departmental and organizational goals.

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Associate's degree or equivalent from a technical school or some college education preferred.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of phlebotomy management, performs diverse support functions including phlebotomy to ensure accurate test results and a quick turnaround time. 2. Supports activities related to laboratory testing (phlebotomy, specimen collection, computer order entry and specimen processing) to ensure accurate result reporting and quick turn-around time.

3. Performs processing functions related to testing including verification, accessioning, aliquoting, processing and batching send out testing, adding/cancelling tests, distributing, storing and disposing of specimens.

4. Performs registration duties applicable to the site/location of assignment. Computer based registration and order entry duties require prior training provided by the applicable department.

5. Adheres to Compliance policies as related to job duties to include presenting Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) of non-coverage prior to delivery of outpatient services.

6. Performs observational competency of all support staff under the guidance of the phlebotomy leadership using established criteria.

7. Oversees and schedules training of new employees, provides current employees with in-service education on new policy and procedures; may act as a shift leader. Works well without direct supervision.

8. Maintains department equipment and inventory to ensure proper supplies are available.

9. Participates in:

· Completion of a phlebotomy training program required. The achievement of 50 draws within previous roles will be considered in lieu of a completed training program.

B. Work Experience:

· A minimum of 6 months of experience as a Phlebotomist required, one year preferred.

C. Certification, Licensure, Registration:

· Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant Certification preferred.

D. Other Qualifications:

· Positions supporting Patient Service Centers and client practices require reliable transportation, a valid Michigan Driver’s License and good driving record in accordance with Corporate Policy. Employees are required to immediately notify manager of any traffic violations incurred.

Practice and Culture

Family medicine includes patients from newborn to end of life. 20% of the patients seen here are non-English speaking (Vietnamese and Spanish). We do have full-time staff on-site to help translate as well as translation services available. Being a large practice there is room for growth and development within each role. Both the on-site manager and supervisor come from clinical backgrounds.
