An opportunity exists for a full-time Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Milo C. Huempfner Outpatient Clinic, located in Green Bay, WI. The Milo C. Huempfner Outpatient Clinic is a new 162,000 square foot VA primary care and multi-specialty clinic located in Green Bay.
The successful candidate should be comfortable performing all aspects of adult Orthopaedics. All care will be provided in an outpatient setting only with no inpatient care responsibilities. Qualified candidates should be BE/BC in Orthopaedic Surgery. The selected candidate should demonstrate the ability to work well with a large, diverse and dedicated patient care staff.
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Evaluate general Orthopaedic conditions through complete history and physical examinations, and develop an operative or non-operative management/ treatment plan.
- Provide comprehensive Orthopedic care services as well as follow-up care of existing conditions.
- Provide Pre- and Post-Operative Orthopedic Services.
- Perform basic orthopedic surgical procedures at the Milo C Huempfner Green Bay HCC twice a week, with the opportunity to perform more complex cases once monthly at the Clement J Zablocki VA in Milwaukee.
- Conduct 3 times weekly outpatient clinics at the Green Bay HCC, with future opportunity for clinic expansion the Appleton CBOC.
- Work collaboratively with the Department of Orthopaedics at the Clement J Zablocki VA, for operative management and follow up of higher complexity cases.
- Work collaboratively with the Department of Orthopaedics at the Clement J Zablocki VA, providing sign out when necessary, for nightly and weekend call coverage.
- Work collaboratively with the Department of Orthopaedics at the Clement J Zablocki VA, to seek adjunct credentialing at the Medical College of Wisconsin, should there be interest in working with/ teaching residents.
- Document services through appropriate notes, such as History and Physical, Progress notes, Operative notes, and Discharge Summaries.
- Educate physicians and staff in the principles and therapy of basic and complex Orthopedic Services/Surgery.
- Provide patient and family education, including informed consent.
- Respond to patient telephone calls, informing patients of test/lab results, and renewing medication prescriptions when necessary.
- Adhere to safety, health, and infection control standards, regulations and work practices, as well as ergonomic standards.
- Attend required staff meetings, communicating up and down the chain of command, and helping prepare heads-up and issue briefs related to adverse patient outcomes.
- Complete indirect patient care requirements: open encounter and open consult maintenance, CPRS documentation requirements, monitoring of clinic management.
- Maintain involvement in matters concerning clinic productivity, relevant performance measures, Quality and Patient Safety oversight, as well as process improvements (system redesigns).
- Remain privileged and practicing in their specialty field. The exact privileges and procedures for a particular provider will be approved by the Professional Standards Board.
- Provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, treatment of disease, and care at the end of life.
- Demonstrate knowledge of established and evolving biomedical, clinical and social sciences, and the application of their knowledge to patient care and the education of others.
