• Serves as a public health expert in developing, planning, coordinating, monitoring, implementing, and evaluating current or projected complex, interrelated public health and clinical / research programs within the Office of Human Research and Community Engagement (OHRCE) involving governmental and non-governmental organizations and individuals from multiple sectors e.g. local, state, national and/or international levels.

Health Records Management

• Responsible for all facets of health records management for the facility
• Directs the operation of all personnel working within the following program areas: records analysis, release of information, health record files, incomplete records/physician liaison, data validation, health records QI processes, medical transcription, scanning, outpatient/inpatient Coding and other health information projects.
• Evaluates health records program and independently determines the nature of extent of problem areas.

Oncology/Hematology Registered Nurse (RN) is a clinical expert who uses advanced specialized knowledge and judgement for the delivery of high-quality and evidence-based care to oncology patients and their families. Uses a team approach to identify, analyze, and resolve patient care problems with measurable outcomes. Completes physiological assessments and completes documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance with established policies and procedures. Triages patient problems and assists in the evaluation of symptoms and initiates interventions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Monitors tracks/tends, and reports ongoing care needs and outcomes to the interdisciplinary team. They direct the provision of nursing education, orientation, and competencies, and provide quality improvement and outcome utilization. They provide a safe working environment while administering, handling, and disposing of antineoplastic drugs and medical waste. They oversee the administration and management of various medical procedures and treatments in the oncology setting, including vascular access devices and infusion treatments. Conducts in-service education based on insights gained from oncology professional development activities and acquiring specialized skills in oncology-specific areas, including chemotherapy administration, oncology electronic ordering systems, and calculating drug dosages. The Oncology/Hematology RN manages monitoring requirements for specific drugs, handling immediate infusion reactions, and preventing and managing oncology-related symptoms and adverse events, such as chemo-related symptoms and immune-related adverse events.

• Provide healthcare services for patients with both acute and chronic illnesses and conditions covering the entire spectrum of medicine.

The Peer Specialist functions as an interdisciplinary team member, assisting physicians and other professional/non-professional personnel in a rehabilitation treatment program. Peer specialists perform a variety of therapeutic and supportive tasks that include assisting Veterans in articulating their goals for recovery and personal wellness, learning, and practicing new skills, helping them monitor their progress, assisting them in their treatment, modeling effective coping techniques and self-help strategies based on the peer specialist's own recovery experience, and supporting them in advocating for themselves to obtain effective services.
Duties include, but not limited to the following:

• Participates in the service, training, consultation, and other professional activities of VA health care services and functions as a fully vested member of the multidisciplinary team.
• Uses personal recovery experiences to model coping techniques and recovery tolls to coach Veterans to relevant skills need for self-management of their health condition(s) and pursuit of their personal wellness.

Duties:
The incumbent serves as a Medical Administrative Specialist- Health Administrative Specialist on Duty (HOD) located in the Office of the Chief, Health Administration Service (HAS), or Business Office (BO), or Medical Administration Service (MAS), or similarly named and organized service; the position has both the authority and responsibility to represent both the Medical Center Director and the Chief, HAS on all administrative matters occurring when assigned to other than a normal tour of duty. Duties include the following:

• Delegated full authority and responsibility to exercise the Medical Center Director's prerogative in medical administrative matters and issues that may arise.
• Represents management in (non-policy making) administrative matters.
• Represents management in matters pertaining to the lawful retention of veterans in the VAMC.
