Positions are being recruited in both Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks including positions in the Lodgepole, Grant Grove and Cedar Grove Subdistricts.

EMTs will be assigned ambulance duty, responding as the initial provider for most EMS calls. EMTs will request assistance from other trained personnel as necessary. The park employs approximately 25 permanent rangers who have certifications ranging from EMT to Paramedic. The parks respond to roughly 350 calls annually ranging from first aid to advanced life support. EMTs respond to roughly ten fatal incidents each year. EMTs will conduct appropriate patient assessment, make a transport decision, and work within established NPS Protocols under medical control. EMTs will make base hospital contact via phone and radio patch. Patient care will be documented appropriately in the field to allow for electronic reporting after the call. EMTs will keep supplies stocked and notify their supervisor when supplies need to be ordered. Ambulances will be cleaned and organized for effective response. Equipment will be decontaminated and cleaned after every call. EMTs will plan, prepare for, and execute EMS training for local responders. EMTs may conduct other emergency services operations with appropriate certifications including Search and Rescue, structural and wildland fire, extrication, and visitor services. The parks respond to roughly 150 SAR incidents a year, with a handful of them requiring technical rescue. EMTs will be responsible to respond as directed to manage foot and vehicle traffic in congested areas. EMTs may be assigned project work during slow periods or intermittent down time.

Housing: Available rental housing units may include tent cabins, mobile homes, apartments, or traditional houses and housing/rooms will likely be shared with other employees, interns, volunteers, etc. Units may be rustic, located in wilderness areas, with few if any modern conveniences. Pets (other than service pets) and overnight guests are not allowed; units are to house assigned employees only.

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks represent an extraordinary continuum of ecosystems (96% designated wilderness) arrayed along the greatest vertical relief (1,370 to 14,505 feet elevation) of any protected area in the lower 48 states. They are the highest, most rugged reaches of the Sierra Nevada Mountains (including Mount Whitney at 14,505 feet elevation) and feature the world's largest trees - Giant Sequoias. Sequoia National Park is the nation's second oldest national park (established September 25, 1890) and encompasses 404,863 acres. The primary purpose of the position is to provide administrative and team support in a wide variety of basic administrative functions within Patient Aligned Care Team, Specialty Clinic, or Call Center. The incumbent is considered the team's authority on a variety of clinic process, regulations, policies, and procedures regarding eligibility and benefits, clinic support, statistical and data collection, medical record management and customer service. The incumbent must interpret and implement regulations accurately to reflect current operating procedures. The role is complex and requires flexibility and independent decision-making.

The Spinal Cord Injury Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for the following: Patient Evaluation, Treatment, and Development

• Under the clinical supervision of a PT; plans, integrates, and communicates comprehensive physical therapy treatments for patients with SCI/D who have a variety of deficits including complete or incomplete paralysis of upper lower extremities with the associated medical and functional problems. Therapeutic objectives are complex, and the treatment procedures involved require the application of highly specialized skills and knowledge.
• Develops and implements individualized physical therapy treatments including resistive exercises, passive and active range of motion, functional mobility training, postural training, transfer training, etc., for acute and chronic, inpatient and outpatient spinal cord injured patients.
• Recognizes and considers the various interacting medical and psychosocial variables, which affect the individual with SCI/D when preparing a treatment plan and motivate the patient to become an active participant in their rehabilitation process.
• Monitors patient progress and modifies treatments as necessary according to an ongoing evaluation .. process, in order to optimize patient condition and allow patient to reach the goals established in conjunction with team. Factors include medical and functional status, psychosocial variables, patient needs and goals, and available treatment modalities.
• Participates on ward rounds, patient planning meetings, and discharge conferences and informs team of patient status and expectations.
• Assists PT's in home evaluations, mobility evaluations, gait and transfer evaluations, activities of daily living evaluations and equipment evaluations.

Plans and implements specialized treatment programs and applies physical therapy procedures to patients under the general supervision of a physical therapist. Completes a preliminary review/examination of patient data (including medical history), compiles and organizes pertinent information, and develops/presents a patient profile to be used in assessing patient's status and ascertaining patient's need for therapy services. • Secures the confidence and cooperation of Veterans during procedures. Explains procedures, positions patients for desired results, and cushions and shields Veterans as appropriate. Varies procedures or positions to adjust for Veterans' medical conditions. Instructs, motivates, and assists patients to use and care for orthoses, prostheses, or other supportive devices. Duties include but not limited to:

• Performs all preventative maintenance, operational checks, repair, layout installation, troubleshooting, tracing, locating defects, modification on all new and existing electrical systems.

This position is necessary to directly supervise a team of six nurse educators and three nurse informaticists that provide services to clinical staff in the entire health care system in response to mandates, needs assessments, requests associated with performance improvement plans, quality and safety recommendations, national or VISN initiatives. These services include but are not limited to education, competency assessment, education reimbursement management, student placement and onboarding, learning management systems, software management, continuing education program management, Automatic Data Processing Application Coordinator (ADPAC) services, and REdI (ACLS, BLS) program management. The full-time Clinical Education Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for managing the day-to-day operations of Clinical Education and is needed to provide valuable support in meeting the needs of the facility in a timely fashion.

• Performs skilled venipuncture in accordance with facility and laboratory policies and procedures.
