Please refer to the full Job Decription attached Attend endoscopy and appropriate surgical and oncological outpatient clinics to facilitate the identification of those patients with cancers of the HPB . Facilitate and act as resource/support at the patients point of diagnosis and may have to frequently contribute in discussing terminal illness/poor prognostic disease. Attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings, both in the Royal Surrey County Hospital and any appropriate satellite sites to ensure optimal patient management. Ensure the provision of support both written and verbal for patients with cancers of the HPB enabling them to make informed choices and decisions at different stages of their cancer journey. Provide patients with cancers of the HPB , their carers and primary care givers with a contact within the Royal Surrey County Hospital to help coordinate their care appropriately and offer specialist advice regarding their treatment/condition. Act as a role model on the wards and within the clinic setting, facilitating the identification of the patients physical, social, psychological and spiritual needs and working with the multi-professional team to plan how these needs can be met. Use specialist knowledge to assess and interpret complex complications/conditions relating to HPB Cancers and instigate appropriate actions. To work in partnership with other members of the health care services both in primary and secondary care to enhance patient choice about their care and treatment. Able to work autonomously without supervision, managing caseload, providing patient focused, specialist care to complement the multi-disciplinary team. Whilst also working within team settings. We are seeking a Locum Healthcare Assistant to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at Pirbright Medical Centre, in Woking, Surrey.

This is a full-time locum role (37.5 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.

Job Description – Service Requirements

• To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing basic ward-based nursing care within a Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) bedded down facility, to the Defence Medical Services (DMS) entitled Population at Risk (PAR)
• To provide general basic nursing care under supervision and direction of the Lead Practice Nurse, undertaking tasks and duties delegated by a suitably qualified and registered healthcare professional.
• To provide medical administrative support as required.
• To assist the Medical Officer’s (MOs) and practice nurse teams within Primary Health Care clinics, Occupational Health assessment clinics, chronic disease clinics and with health promotion.
• To record a range of clinical observations, tests and measurements such as, visual acuity, recording Electrocardiograms (ECGs), venepuncture, peak flow readings, spirometry, urinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigation, whilst working within individual scope of competence and following DMS and DPHC policy and procedures.
• To communicate effectively with patients in specific clinical situations and work collaboratively with the nursing team and administrative staff to meet the needs of patients.
• To comply with infection, prevention and control requirements.
• To use equipment in accordance with local equipment care directives and comply with Health and Safety policy and regulations.
• To undertake and remain in date for all mandatory training as set out in the most current DPHC Guidance Note entitled Mandatory Training for Locums, Agency Staff and single Service personnel working within DPHC.


Essential Requirements/ / Qualifications / Experience

• Must have a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ/SVQ) Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or an equivalent Healthcare related NVQ).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years recent experience within the last 3 years of working in general practice or other healthcare environment as an HCA.
• Must be in date for Basic Life Support (BLS), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC).
• Must be able to provide certificates of training, as undertaken within the last three years, and/or be able to provide proof of clinical competency from a previous employer or Line Manager, who is a current registered healthcare professional, in:
- Recording ECGs
- Performing Venepuncture
- Performing urinalysis
- Preparation of specimens
- Undertaking simple dressing procedures
- Using aseptic technique
• Must be in date and able to provide certification for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Safeguarding Adults up to and including Level 2 training.

As a Senior Theatre Practitioner (ODP) at our Guildford Hospital, you're registered with the appropriate governing body and you hold the relevant qualifications and experience, including NMC or HCPC. You bring a passion for high standards, a meticulous eye for detail and post-registration experience. You're a focused, flexible and motivated team worker.

As a Senior Theatre Practitioner (ODP), you will:

• Prioritise patient safety, taking appropriate actions and encouraging colleagues to call out and report safety concerns.

• Promote a safe working environment for patients, visitors and staff (in full compliance with all policies and procedures)

• Support governance activity, ensuring full compliance with Nuffield Health's Quality governance framework and national standards, e.g. CQC/HIW/HIS Regulation, fundamentals of care, professional standards and evidence-based guidelines.

• Provide and lead care management and delivery, treating patients, families, friends and representatives with kindness, dignity, respect and compassion and support them to cope emotionally with their care, treatment or condition.

• ​​​Collaborate with other clinicians within the Hospital, building strong working relationships that enhance patient care and service delivery.

• Take charge of a theatre, co-ordinating and delivering work activities and leading.
