Job Description:
Essentia Health is recruiting for a full time clinical Medical Physicist that would work at the Essentia Health Cancer Center located in Duluth, Minnesota. The individual filling this position will be an integral member of an experienced team (Radiation Oncologist, Therapists, Nurse, Dosimetrist, Physicist and Manager) running a state-of-the-art radiation therapy program in a comprehensive cancer center.
The primary medical physics duties will be provided at the Cancer Center in Duluth, with opportunities to provide support to other Essentia Health Radiation Oncology departments. The primary job responsibilities will be clinical support of staff, clinical consultation, performing/overseeing departmental quality assurance and quality control tests, data management, equipment specification and compliance of state and federal requirements. The successful candidate will join a collegial team of 3 medical physicists, providing professional services for Essentia Health radiation oncology services.
The Essentia Health Cancer Center includes a Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator (3 photon energies, one FFF, 4 electron energies, IMRT, VMAT, IGRT and SGRT), Accuray CyberKnife (SRS and SBRT), Eclipse and Precision treatment planning, Aria R&V, Wide bore CT Simulator, MIM, Mobius3D and SNC products for routine quality assurance.
In this role you will be:
A member of the radiation oncology team who has the overall responsibility for the technical aspects of radiation treatments. Provides therapeutic medical physics support, and consultative services for treatment delivery, and for equipment selection and acceptance, primarily for therapeutic equipment. The incumbent must have the ability to work independently, to communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers and patients, and patient’s families, and to maintain strict confidentiality. The incumbent also must have a strong knowledge of radiation safety and must be able to work with the department supervisor and medical director. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining personal knowledge, education, and skills in order to demonstrate the achievement of position specific competencies.

Education Qualifications:
Master’s degree required in medical physics or related field.
Work Experience:
Minimum 3 years of clinical experience with responsibilities in radiation therapy physics.
Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
Board certified in the subfield of therapeutic medical physics with its associated medical health physics aspects by the American Board of Radiology, the American Board of Medical Physics, or the Canadian college of Physicists in Medicine, and abides by the certifying body’s requirements for continuing education.
