At Blackburn Endoscopy Unit, we provide a service that offers all types of Endoscopy for elective and emergency procedures for inpatients and outpatients. We offer all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. We are a friendly, fast paced unit and offer bespoke training sessions alongside our induction programme.

The successful candidate will participate as an effective practitioner within a multi-disciplinary unit, demonstrating effective team work and providing good morale within the department and rotate through all clinical areas to meet service need and professional development.



1. Provide care in the clinical area as an effective member of the team.

2. Establish a safe working environment for patients and staff to ensure patient contact and dignity are not compromised.

INR Monitoring ECG Venepuncture 24 Hour blood pressure application and removal Assisting with minor surgery procedures Assisting with IUCD and Implanon procedures Removal of Sutures Influenza, Pneumonia and Shingles Vaccinations Chaperone duties Vaccine cold chain storage, monitoring and stock management. Prepare clinical offices and treatment rooms for clinical activities eg. Setting up clinics for clinical procedures or activities Ensuring that the environment and equipment is clean in line with the activity to be carried out and local policy and procedures Ensuring that the necessary documentation and / or materials and equipment are available Carry out cleaning of equipment as required and in line with local and national policies and procedures. Monitor and record equipment readings and checks in line with manufacturers and local policy guidelines. Ensuring equipment provided is safely maintained and faults reported to an appropriate person. Detailed job description and main responsibilities This post will be based within the Acute Conditions Research Team, supporting research studies within various disciplines including but not exclusively, Anaesthetics, ICU, Surgery, ED/Trauma, MSK and Stroke.You will be working as part of our small, friendly team, responsible for identifying, recruiting and supporting patients throughout their research journey. The post is primarily based at Blackburn Royal Teaching Hospital. However, the post holder may also be expected to support trials at Burnley General Teaching Hospital and other Trust sites, to meet the needs of our patients and studies. Therefore flexibility is an essential attribute. Most of the research activity is undertaken Monday to Friday within normal office hours. However, research activity times may also vary and early starts (7:30 onwards) or late finishes (after 5pm) may be required to accommodate studies involving morning theatre lists & late running clinics. This will always be on a planned basis & a flexible working policy is in place.Our team ethos is to maximize the potential of our own, individual skills.
