Position located in the Health Services Department at a Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) correctional facility.

Primarily responsible for providing emergency assessment and medical care to inmate patients.

First responder at the scene of sudden illness or emergency and sometimes encounters situations which may be life threatening.

Determines, upon consultation with a medical provider (physician/physician assistant/nurse practitioner), the most appropriate method of transportation to the local hospital.

Program Management

• Develops a system to identify SCI patients served by the facility and community who belong in this special disability group. This may involve use of the Spinal Cord Dysfunction (SCD) Registry, Patient Treatment File searches, Veterans Health Information System and Technology Architecture (VistA) and Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) records, SCD reports and/or Classification reports, Patient Data Exchange, Network Health Exchange, and contacts within the community.
• Serves as the point of contact for all inquiries regarding the SCI program. This may include stakeholders (e.g. Veterans, families, community hospitals and nursing homes, Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) and other Veterans Service Organizations), Spinal Cord Injury and Disorders Strategic Healthcare Group (SCI/D, SHG) and Congressional Inquiries.

The lnterventional Radiologist is charged with delivering the best possible care to our Veterans. This care must be delivered in accordance with hospital policy, meeting or exceeding national standards and VHA national benchmarks. Assigned duties and responsibilities are performed throughout the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, often in a close interdisciplinary arrangement and consultation with other clinical services such as the Department of Surgery, Internal Medicine, Primary Care, Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine etc. Interdisciplinary collaborative care implies active participation in interdisciplinary conferences and adherence to interdisciplinary care and treatment strategy decisions. The Nursing Informatics Coordinator is directly responsible to the AMCD/Patient Care Services for the coordination of information, education, training, and technical support related to electronic health record nursing modules and other clinical information systems utilized by Patient Care Services including BCMA, CareVue, Omnicell, etc.

The incumbent collaboratively interacts with IM personnel, Pharmacy, Biomedical Engineering, and LRC in order to provide comprehensive and expert nursing knowledge and information to this area, which will result in an interactive and collegial networking process.

They collaborate with other services to assure integration of processes which facilitate patient care and skillful application by end users. This person must possess technical expertise in computer management and have the ability to lend support to others.

Selected Physician will serve the Veteran populations at both the Hyannis and New Bedford Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), requiring travel between the two Facilities.

Collect and labels specimens (blood, urine, sputum, stool) for testing.Operate guidelines to determine technical factors, sets controls, calibrates, and operates equipment and instruments such as electrocardiogram (EKG) machine, cortisol-binding globulin (CBG) monitor, ankle-brachial index (ABI) doppler, bladder scan, etc.Independently cleans exam rooms and re-stocks supplies as indicated by the needs of the patient or health care professional. Orders and maintains all supplies utilized in the clinic.Perform direct patient support to include gathering information from patients, providing personal patient care and patient education on home use of medical equipment such as glucometers, blood pressure monitors, peak flow meters, etc.Provide clerical and administrative support to relieve health care professionals in the Primary Care by scrubbing the schedule for appropriate appointments, entering requests for labs as generated by clinical reminder fields, into Computer Patient Record System (CPRS) Graphic User Interface (GUI), utilizes electronic Quality Measures (eQM) to meet Strategic Analytics for Improvement and Learning (SAIL) and Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) measures.Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 07:30 AM - 04:00 PMPosition Description Title/PD#: Health Technician/PD12810APhysical Requirements: The work requires frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting, bending, stretching, pushing, turning and at times lifting heavy equipment and/or patients.
