Starting at $143,559 Per Year (GS 14)

• Analyze operational support requirements/requests from higher Headquarters (HQ) and other Department of Defense (DOD) agencies.
• Inform Action Officers of delays, adjustments in suspense actions, and priorities or other major changes as they occur.
• Plan work, establish priorities, directs, reviews and accepts or rejects the work of military and civilian personnel assigned to the section.
• Perform Action Officer duties regarding Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU) Operations, training and plans.
• Conducts mission analysis of Operation Orders (OPORDs) and Fragment Orders (FRAGOs) assigned by Command leadership.
• Evaluate tasks and their impact on the Command’s mission and resources through analysis of time-sensitive messages.
• Regularly assist in the setup of briefings as directed by the Command team on operational matters involving the Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU).
• Prepare and present written and verbal information and decision briefings for the Command leadership in accordance with Army doctrine and policies.

Starting at $73,591 Per Year (GS 11)

This is a career ladder progression position; the duties described below are at the GS-11 level. If selected at a grade below GS-11, the incumbent will serve in a developmental capacity, wherein the work is less complex in nature and the supervisor, or a senior level employee provides specific instruction and guidance. At the GS-11 grade level, the incumbent:

• Independently conducts a wide variety of onsite safety and health inspections and investigations of mining operations as applicable, mills, preparation plants and related facilities.
• Prepares written reports of inspections and investigations, issuing citations and orders for violations found during examinations.
• Promotes safety and health among mine operators and workers by directing and participating in safety and health training programs, meetings, demonstrations, mine rescue competitions, and related activities.
• Provides technical advice and guidance to mine operators to help them solve problems and comply with mine safety and health requirements.
• Assists mine operators in the planning of modifications to improve and/or correct deficiencies in the operation such as selecting and installing new equipment and changing materials or methods.
• Promotes safety and health among mine operators and workers by directing and participating in safety and health training programs, meetings, demonstrations, mine rescue competitions, and related activities.
• Serves as a MSHA representative and information source on mine safety and health.
• Testifies at judicial hearings regarding notices of violations and orders of withdrawal.

Work Environment: The incumbent inspects and/or investigates both surface and underground mining operations as applicable, which is a very hazardous and stressful work environment surrounded by a high risk of exposure to potentially dangerous situations. In addition to the characteristically dark, wet, and cramped environment, underground mines contain noxious gases and fumes, and the danger of potentially explosive dust or gases, electrical fires, roof falls, and exposure to radiation.

Starting at $49,726 Per Year (GS 7-11)

Duties include, but are not limited to:
The incumbent is a member of a data team that explores new technologies and databases, including (but not limited to): VSSC, Pyramid Analytics, CDW (Corporate Data Warehouse), Power BI, TABLO, MAPTITUDE, and AMCMS (which is a new technology created in 2021). Participates in complex projects to apply the technologies in support of Veterans' health care needs. Assignments include complex segments of projects for which the incumbent is independently responsible. Inputs and retrieves data, prepares analyses and presents recommendations to senior specialists, supervisor, or others as may be appropriate.

Participates in assessing data to identify, quantify and resolve organizational problems. Work as part of a team for operations-focus assignments and projects initiated by data analysis or executive leadership. Projects and studies are diverse and intense in nature which requires feedback from subject matter experts or departmental or program offices. Assist with developmental documents which include report preparation from data analysis, project summaries and final recommendations.
