Day Surgery Unit has 20 trollies with 3 recovery chairs & various clinics via our procedure rooms. We are based over 3 separate areas on site at the Infirmary. We look after patients both preoperatively and post operatively and support them to go home on the same day where possible.
All posts are rotational and you will be required to work days/ nights/ weekends and Bank Holidays.
Health Care Assistant duties will be to support the registered nurse in all aspects of caring for patients on the unit.
• To support patients through their admission process and prepare them for their operation or procedures.
• Assisting patients with refreshments post operatively when appropriate and supervising them to get up from trolley to getting dressed, ready to go home.
• Supporting patients with mobility, including moving and handling and use of equipment.
• Maintaining positional changes and skin integrity.
• Helping with eating and drinking, completing fluid balance and food diaries, social activities, emotional and wellbeing support.
• Completing safety checks on equipment, cleaning equipment.
• General house keeping and maintaining a clean and safe ward environment.
• Completing relevant paperwork to a high standard.
• You will work as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team including Nursing staff, Doctors, anaesthetists and the theatre teams. You will be required to follow care plans and keep records of evaluations/outcomes throughout your shift.
