Legal Assistant - Family Law Department
Reports to: Fee Earner
Location: Redditch, UK
Main Purpose:
To provide secretarial and administrative support to a Fee Earner in the Family Department.
Key Tasks (not an exhaustive list):
- Diary Management: Maintain the Fee Earner's diary, arrange meetings, and appointments.
- New Enquiries: Handle new enquiries, initiate and complete the setup of new matters, including all onboarding and due diligence processes such as identification verification and complying with anti-money laundering regulations.
- Document Processing: Diligently type, print, and process dictations. Organize, e-file, and scan documents into our Case Management System, maintaining paper files with accuracy and efficiency.
- Billing Management: Manage the billing process, including generating and coordinating invoices on a monthly basis, and chasing any outstanding payments.
- Financial Transactions: Request payments and record receipts of monies, liaising with our Accounts Team as necessary.
- File Management: Open and archive all paper and electronic files.
- Client Correspondence: Handle routine client correspondence and queries.
- Client Interaction: Attend to clients both in person and on the telephone with confidence and excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a high level of customer care.
- Third-Party Liaison: Deal with third-party agencies, including Counsel, Courts, Experts, and other solicitors.
- Confidentiality: Ensure the confidentiality of the client and firm's information and documentation at all times.
- Technical Proficiency: Be fully conversant with Word, Outlook, and Excel, with experience working with electronic Case Management Systems.
- General Administration: Support the general administration within the Family Law Team and Redditch office.
To be considered for this position, the successful candidate must have:
- A minimum of 2 years in family law experience
- Background in legal work (will be questioned in interview on this)
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:15
- Fully office based

- 26 days plus Bank Holidays
