Your new role

You will be working as part of a team, performing several business-critical accounting services tasks for the UK and Ireland each day, including Payments, Cash Allocation and APAR. Reporting to the Accounting Services Manager, you will primarily support the team in respect of Claims Management Company (CMC) requests for data and information, ensuring that accurate and timely information is provided to internal teams.

• Timely response to emails regarding CMC information requests from internal teams
• The ability to work with multiple sources of data across multiple systems to extract the relevant information.
• Presentation of information and data in an accurate and understandable format, including to senior management
• Liaising with team members and multiple internal stakeholders to review existing processes and implement efficiencies.
• Create reporting and tracking of CMC information requests.
• You may also be required to complete other tasks as required by the Accounting Services Manager relating to Payments, Cash Allocation and APAR responsibilities.
• Investigation of PPI claims

What you'll need to succeed

• High level of numeracy and accuracy, including completing complex reconciliations
• Ability to analyze data and present to management.
• Good communication skills with colleagues and external partners at a range of levels, including senior management and stakeholders.
• Excellent Excel (i.e., Lookups, Pivot Tables, Graphs etc.), Word and PowerPoint skills are essential.
• Knowledge of SAS and SAP is desirable.
• Part-qualified accountant preferred but not essential i.e., AAT, ACCA, CIMA

• Managing a portfolio of existing Alphabet customers for their car & LCV quote to order requirements.

• Use both Late Hire and SMR overspend reporting, reducing the volume of vehicles on contract and utilising this opportunity to formally extend contracts

• Improving penetration of ancillary products.

Your new role

• Support an inspiring vision of the future that motivates and inspires other team members and self to engage with that vision.
• Ensure operation within the appropriate regulatory framework.
• Fulfils the approach for associated administration, the active management of contracts during their lifetime including contract amendments, settlements, vehicle transfers and the vehicle total loss process including salvage. This includes creating added value towards customers by actively managing running contracts and the signalling of deviations, compared to the initial contract parameters (duration, mileage, services, asset /equipment) agreed upon between the client and its customers.
• Supports and fulfils the approach for optimising the in-life risk (Residual Value, Repair, Maintenance, tyres and replacement vehicle) as calculated into the initial contract during the period the contract is active as an essential part of the overall Alphabet pricing strategy.
• Adheres to policies and procedures for contract management in compliance with our clients' policies.
• Delivers effective billing processes in relation to legal novation agreements, insurance amendments, early settlement figures, purchase prices and vehicle total loss including salvage.
• Assist with the processing of live fleet vehicles that have an insurance product with AL-UK, e.g. Early Termination and motor insurance

What you'll need to succeed

Senior Java/Spring Developer (Microservices, TDD, Cloud)
Southampton (3 days in office)
£58-63k + Bonus + BUPA

I am engaged on a project to recruit an experienced Senior Java Developer to join an innovative global leader in trade/logistics business based in the heart of Southampton. You'll be working for a business that improves the quality of people's lives around the world with the support of a very experienced team behind you.

You'll be contributing to the rapid digital transformation and integration of a business with over 100,000 staff that were formed less than 20 years ago, so your ambition should match their growth, the sky is the limit.

This role is offered with 2 days remote, 3 days in the office in Southampton.

Your new role
This is a Senior hands-on role (predominantly Back End) with a requirement to bring new technical ideas and push continuous improvement, mentoring others within the team and being an escalation point for technical challenges. You'll be building new scalable Java/Spring components and helping to break down legacy monoliths which have supported them up to this stage of modernisation.

They are looking heavily investing in innovation and automation, ensuring they push disruptive technologies to move the sector forward and stay ahead of competition. As part of this a modernisation is needed within the Development team and as a Senior Dev you'll play a crucial role in accelerating the adoption of modern practices and tools, working alongside other Devs, PM's and QA's.

What you'll need to succeed
We're looking for strong Java / Spring developers (5+ years experience), ideally with Microservices. In helping them modernise you'll champion Extreme Programming (XP) practices such as test-driven development (TDD), refactoring, continuous integration (CI) and pair programming.

You must have experiencing mentoring other Developers and will be a go-to person within the team for technical guidance.

Development experience with cloud services (AWS, Google, Azure etc) and associated architectural styles and principles will be important, and you'll be comfortable using Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Selenium, Jira and Confluence (or similar).

They are open to experience with any relational database (SQL Server, Oracle, NoSQL) and some experience with JavaScript frameworks would be a nice to have (Angular, React etc).
