Southend City Council's Adult Prevention Team have a fantastic opportunity currently for a full-time, permanent adult experienced Senior Social Worker.There has never been a better time to join their team and participate in growing the service to be innovative, creative and providing high quality support to people when they need it most.The main aim of the team is to use a strength-based approach to enable people to live safely in the community, maximising their abilities to care for themselves and to support carers to continue in their caring role as long as they are able to.

The team work creatively with people and their carers to empower them and identify individual and community based assets.The successful candidate will support the Team Manager in providing expert leadership and professional guidance to a team of Social Workers and Social Care Assessors. As well as taking a professional lead when required for Care Act (2014) Assessments and statutory reviews, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards safeguarding enquiries and Mental Capacity Act (2005) assessment /chairing 'best interest' meetings.

Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 2 days a week.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position you must be able to work in the UK, have a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with the Social Work England and have completed your ASYE.You must have post 3 years+ experience as a social worker within the adult community sector.

You need to have the ability to build excellent working relationships with other agencies/professionals at all levels. You will need to be able to scope out community assets to better inform those people we work with.You must have knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, skills in assessment of carers and the ability to provide support and guidance to carers is essential.You need to have experience of applying the Care Act (2014), Mental Capacity Act (2005) and managing adult safeguarding enquiries or have a good understanding/knowledge if no direct experience is available.

Your new role
Southend City Council's Fostering Support Team are looking to appoint a full-time, permanent Fostering experienced Senior Practitioner within the Support Team.
Within this position, you will provide an efficient, cost-effective assessment intervention and therapeutic service to young people and their families. Ensuring that the needs of the children and their parents/carers are professionally assessed. Managing cases of high sensitivity or complexity and providing a focus of specialist advice and professional consultation, to gather, investigate, evaluate and analyse all necessary information on assigned cases. Demonstrating clarity of assessments, reliability of information, evidenced conclusions and realistic action plans.
You will need to develop a practice which takes a holistic view of the individual, locating them in both their immediate and extended social circles, and having a full regard to their education, social, recreational and health. Ensuring that all case management complies with the statutory requirements and the council's policies and procedures.

The position is hybrid working, and you will be expected to be on site a minimum of 1 day a week. There will be a team meeting every other week and duty is to be undertaken in the office, approx 3 days a month.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position you must be able to work in the UK, have a 3-year-post qualified recognised Social Work qualification, be registered with the Social Work England and have completed your ASYE.You must have knowledge or direct experience of fostering practice and National Minimum Standards, have knowledge of trauma informed practice in relation to fostering, along with supervisory experience and knowledge of safeguarding and managing/overseeing complex caseloads.
Additional knowledge must demonstrate: understanding the framework for the assessment of children in need and their families and knowledge of methods of social work intervention.
Previous experience of staff management, supervision or practice teaching along with extensive experience of applying assessment skills within a statutory social work setting is a must for this post.
