About the unit 

The Nursing Resource Pool (NRP) is made up of a variety of Nurses (ICU nurses, progressive-care nurses, and medical-surgical nurses), Nursing Assistants, Ward Secretaries and Patient Observation Aides (Patient Sitters).  Being a team member in the NRP means having the flexibility to work in various units or departments within a healthcare facility.  It involves being ready to step in and provide care where it is needed most.  Depending on staffing needs, the NRP member will be deployed to different specialties such as medical-surgical, progressive and critical care.  Some members of the NRP do assist in women's health.  This role requires adaptability, quick thinking, and the ability to work effectively in different environments.  It also entails being knowledgeable about a wide range of hospital practices and policies.  Strong communication skills are necessary to collaborate with all team members.  The patients, families, and staff of the hospital all greatly value and appreciate the help and expertise that the NRP staff provide to them.

Scope of work 

Assists licensed nursing staff in providing direct patient care and helps in the environmental maintenance of the nursing unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse and within the scope of defined practice. Provides for personal care and safety needs of patients promptly under the supervision of licensed nursing staff including specific procedures and patient testing addressed in the patient plan of care. Maintains an orderly unit environment with sufficient supplies and equipment in order to facilitate staff performance of patient care. Facilitates the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients on and off unit in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Position Summary:  

The System Manager of Clinical and Operations Resource Management oversees organizational patient flow and supports the hospital's patient flow objectives, as they relate to patient placement assignments, customer service and capacity optimization.  Oversight and accountability for the daily operations of the Central Staffing Office (CSO), Access Center (AC) RN Team, Ambulatory / Procedural / Hospital Float Pool, and House Supervisor (HS) RN Team.  Ensures efficient and effective orientation for all HS, AC, and CSO staff, and facilitates utilization of all inpatient unit-staffing activities.  Able to perform all duties of CSO, AC, and HS staff. Provides support to and works closely with the Nursing Clinical Operations Mangers for monitoring and improving operating efficiency and financial performance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field
• Current Montana Licensure (Registered Nurse)
• American Heart Association BLS
• American Heart Association ACLS (within 1 year)
• American Heart Association PALS (within 1 year)
• Five (5) years relevant clinical RN experience in acute care medical/surgical/critical care nursing
• Preferred: Two (2) years of demonstrated management experience in hospital operations or a clinical department is preferred
• Preferred: Recent experience in phone triage, phone processing, discharge planning, or case management
• Preferred: MSN

• Assists Director with broad operations to ensure the provision of comprehensive departmental services in compliance with all regulatory agencies and healthcare system requirements.
• Ensures a collaborative departmental approach to long-range strategic operational planning, care and service design and development of organizational policies, which reflect the mission of the organization.
• Coordinates and oversees the organization-wide departmental services.  Continuously assesses, measures and improves departmental performance.
• Demonstrates responsible management of all departmental resources.
• Demonstrates clinical/technical and managerial competency.  Ensures staff professional needs are met.
• Leads, teaches, inspires, helps and consistently demonstrates healthcare system behavioral standards.

About the Unit

The Nursing Resource Pool (NRP) is made up of a variety of Nurses (ICU nurses, Progressive-care nurses, and Medical/Surgical nurses), Nursing Aides, Desk Secretaries, and Patient Observation Aides (Patient Sitters). This staff is like the lifeguards of the hospital. Each day and night, the staff are deployed throughout the hospital to help to rescue all areas that find themselves short-staffed. This is a fantastic learning environment for those who are in school as it allows staff to care for nearly every kind of patient in different units that’s offers different care depending on the area that the staff is assigned. The NRP staff rarely gets bored, because the types of patients they care for changes nearly every day. The patients, families, and staff of the hospital all greatly value and appreciate the help and expertise that the NRP staff provide to them. The NRP department offers more flexibility with schedule that will cater to your personal and family needs and work-life balance.

Facilitates the admission, discharge and transfer of patients on and off unit in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Qualifications 

·       High school diploma or GED equivalent. 

·       Completion of nursing assistant program and/or one year of nursing assistant experience preferred. 

·       AHA BLS Healthcare Provider required.

·       Nursing Assistant certification preferred.
