Hays are looking to recruit 3 cover supervisors to work for us on a flexible, ad-hoc basis at our partnership secondary schools across Stafford and Stone at a rate of up to £90 per day.

Cover supervisors supervise the pupils carrying out pre-prepared exercises when teaching staff are on short-term absence. The cover supervisor's main job is to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set. No planning, preparation or marking is required. This is more of a class supervisor position and therefore, no formal qualifications are required. However, some experience of working with children is preferred.

Your working hours will typically be between 8:30-3:30pm and you can choose the days you want to work each week. You would be paid on a weekly basis and be able to have a flexible worklife balance in this particular position.

This is a very rewarding position where you will get to know individual schools and have the chance to help make a difference. You would need to have experience of working with groups of children in some sort of capacity to be considered.

Your new school
This secondary school in Stafford is a large secondary school and always reaches its capacity ahead of new intakes. The staff here have been at this school for many years, which has kept its SLT reputation solid. You will be working at a GOOD Ofsted rated school where they are always striving for improvements to make their school as good as possible for both staff and pupils.

Your new role
You will be taking on a full-time Science role from January 2025, and will be required to teach all three sciences to both KS3 and KS4 pupils for one term in full, covering a planned operation. Having a candidate with a specialism in chemistry or biology would be advantageous, although not essential. The role will require you to take on the planning and preparation required, along with being able to complete assessments for the pupils you teach. This role will be on a full-time basis. However, for the right candidate, four days would also be considered.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed, you will need to hold QTS in the UK. Experience teaching all three science subjects is essential. Both fully qualified teachers and ECTs are encouraged to apply.
