About the position

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated software engineer to be part of the development and innovation of two of our key mobile applications. This role involves hands-on coding The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mobile application development, with a passion for leveraging cutting-edge technologies to create outstanding user experiences.

Looking for Contributors with the following skill set: React (WebApp), React Native (mobile app) and PHP Laravel (optional)

Location: BLR, India

Key responsibilities

• Work with developers of two major mobile applications, ensuring high performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Maintain and extend the codebase for mobile applications written in Swift (iOS) and Kotlin (Android).
• Integrate mobile applications with back-end services, with a preference for experience in PHP and AWS environments.
• Ensure adherence to best practices for mobile application development, including security, scalability, and maintainability.
• Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, from concept to deployment and support.
• Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in mobile development and propose their adoption were beneficial.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience with React Native.
• Actively worked on React Native mobile applications as a core component, not as a side project.
• Doesn’t need hand holding or heavy guidance in maintaining a product. Look for experience in small teams without a lead. Would be good to have some sort of scrum master role experience (not required).
• Experience with Fastlane for deployment automation.
• Experience with Firebase for analytics and test build deployments.
• Used React Native Elements UI library.
• Experience in stakeholder management.
• Familiarity with AWS services are highly preferred.
• Proven track record of developing and maintaining high-quality mobile applications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Plan, write, edit, and publish clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation, such as help topics, release notes, and how-to articles of various CAE Crew Management products
• Write both user- and administrator-focused content for external and internal audiences
• Rewrite unstructured content into modular information types
• Review and edit drafts written by subject matter experts to ensure consistency of technical documentation across product lines
• Adopt the CAE Crew Management technical writing guidelines on drafts, and revise content to the needs of the intended audience
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate the accuracy and completeness of technical documentation
• Research and learn a wide variety of software and functionality under the CAE suite of Crew Management applications
• Test new software functionality to validate documentation accuracy
• Create video tutorials, infographics, and screenshots
• Work with the technical documentation manager to refine processes and writing guidelines
• Collaborate with team members and other teams under an Agile Scrum environment, focusing on providing a specific value to customers at the end of each sprint

What training, qualifications, skills and experience are required for any job-holder of this position?

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Journalism, English, Information Technology, Aviation-related courses, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and professional training
• 5 – 7 years’ experience writing technical documentation in a software development company. Experience as technical writer in hardware or other information technology-related industry will be considered.
• Able to express technical concepts and procedures in clear, concise, and accurate content
• Familiar with topic-based authoring, content reuse, audience analysis, and component content management concepts
• Strong technical aptitude and ability to test the functionality of software systems with minimal instruction.
• Avid learner with a strong inclination to understand complex systems and domains. Eager to hunt down information to complete topics
• Experience using video tutorial tools (e.g., Camtasia)
• Experience creating infographics and graphical content to clearly communicate processes and concepts
• Knowledgeable in industry style guides such as Microsoft Style Guide, IBM Style Guide, Google Style Guide, Chicago Manual of Style
• Excellent communicator with above average English writing and speaking skills
• Experience or familiar with Agile practices in software development
• Patient and comfortable with receiving opposing viewpoints and feedback
• Strong inclination to solve customer issues and provide value to customers through usable and informative content
• Critical thinker and with a knack of spotting gaps in processes and standards
• Positive work ethic as demonstrated by adaptability, collaboration, autonomy, keen eye for details, composure under pressure, and strong desire for learning and discovery

Desirable

• Aviation industry experience or relevant field of study
• Experience in topic-based authoring using XML-based authoring tools (e.g., EasyDITA, Epic Editor, Flare, Structured FrameMaker, Oxygen)
• Experience in managing content using a component content management system (e.g., Ixiasoft, Vasont, Documentum)
• Experience or knowledgeable in advanced technical documentation framework and writing styles (e.g., DITA, Precision Content, Sun Microsystems Style Guide, Plain Language)
• Experience in Confluence administration and Confluence third-party macros.
• Experience using Atlassian applications (JIRA, Trello) and third-party Atlassian macros.
• Familiar with user interface design guidelines such as the Apple Human Interface Guidelines and Google Visual Components
